"We used to joke, 'Jack's on duty', never knowing he'd go after a bear," Donna Dickey told local newspaper The Star-Ledger.
"He doesn't want anybody in his yard," she added.
I wonder does that go for bookbag-carrying pedestrians. I would love to see an attack cat in field service. I once got attacked by a white german shepherd (and I mean ATTACKED) and was protected by a sister who must have been in her 70's....Audrey Halstead kicked ass.

Thanks for the cute post !
15# kitty up against at the most 400 -500 #s??? Black bears usually aren't aggressive unless they have cubs around. We use to take the kids to the NY dumps to watch the black bears scrounge in the garbage. Pretty smelly, but interesting.
Some idiot parents would actually let their kids out of the car for a closer look.
Juni - you go Jack!!

While I waited for this thread to open, I wondered. How small was the bear, and how big the cat? But there it is, a picture and everything! LOL
That picture is a total crack-up! I chuckle everytime I see it.

I guess the bear's still a bit of a young'n himself, if he can still climb trees. One determined cat against an uncertain bear equals one funny pic.

Man, some people just don't get it, do they? Do they think bears wear hats and ties and subsist on picernic baskets, or something?
I wouldn't like to upset that cat!
He's probably the gentlest, sookiest cat there is with people; the tough ones usually are. When he got inside, his owner probably told him what a good, clever boy he was for protecting the house, he probably had a big cuddle and a long purr, with that insufferably smug look cats get on their faces.
