JC = Intimidating Interogation?

    After listening to a few of the judicial comittees on this site (sickoflies being most recent), you get the impression that in practise it seems to be a clandestine inquistition more than anything else.

    I am gobsmacked each time I hear the manner in which these hearings are conducted. Oftentimes agressive & in many ways condecending towards the 'sinner'.

    I realise that there are some who may deliberately agrevate the elders and they are only human I suppose, but it all seems just weird.

    I suppose I cant quite put my finger on it but after listening to a recording, it leaves you with a weird feeling towards the elders who are leading the comittee. I mean, how can they be bothered with it all?

    I feel that the time spent on these comittees and appeals would be better off spent on the families of those involved. I mean, is it all really necessary?

    In many cases you have guys that are mature in age, explaining away their sins/doubts etc, rather like a school boy appearing before a school headmaster for letting off a stinkbomb in the girls toilets! How humiliating!

    If any on here are going through this and wish to leave the org, my advice is - cut your loses and hand in a brief letter of disassociation. Save yourself and others a lot of hassle.

    My other thought is that by going through with the whole process only empowers them. Dont play the game.

    That's my view on it too. I was disfellowshipped and went through the whole beating from the elders telling me how I will die in Armageddon. This time I just wrote a DA letter and save myself from all that crap.

    I agree...as many have said before...why give them the power to make decision as to whether you are repentant enough. It is very empowering for them to cast judgement. For those who have committed a serious sin...they like the joy of listening to the juicy details and then cast judgement. Yes in the past I felt like a little child before the principal. And then they send you out of room to make a decision. That is the longest wait....

    Or....don't show up for their little meeting and make them df you in abstentia. Why give the WTS, and the elders, the satisfaction(and any possible future legal backing via DA letter) if you know you're gonna leave?

    My advice is to just ignore them and pretend they don't exist. I would not go if I was "commanded" to appear at a JC nor would I respond to them in any manner.They hate to be ignored. The end result of DF'ing or DA'ing would be the same but to me writing a letter is still playing by their rules,something I refuse to do.
