I have Deliverance here...stange how the book kinda goes with the movie...

Also found 8 more at a flea market...but they wanted $12.00 each. I got a kick out of the illustrations of the Devil and the WT emblem on the back is kinda spooky.

I've read some of his stuff. It justs screams evil. If you read Russell and then read Rutherford, you can see where things went down the toilet.

I've got a couple of old books but I put them in storage. Can't remember what they are now. Think they are Freddie Franz masterpieces, though, and not Rutherford's. I should dig the box out and look. Its stuff my great aunts sent to my very opposed grandparents...guess they weren't quite opposed enough to throw them in the trash, so they threw them in the attic. lol

Several thoughts hit me when reading them, the main one though is, how do you get someone else to see it for what it is?

I've got all of the "Rainbow" series, plus Comfort for the Jews. I still haven't bought Millions Now Living Will Never Die, but I hope to soon.

I have a bunch of booklets, too, but I haven't taken inventory lately on how many of those are in my collection. I know it's over 20.

I've only read a little here and there. What I'm most interested in is various editions or printings of the books. The Harp of God went through changes in cover style and content from the time of first publication until it went out of print. As a bookseller and book collector, these things interest me.

In fact, if anyone has any publication trivia (cover styles, bindings, misprints, etc.), I'd love to hear about it. I'd really like to know what that odd coating on the Rutherford books is -- the stuff that comes off if it gets wet. It seems to be almost a type of paint laid over the cloth.

The WT emblem is on the back, looks really dark. INside of one of the books...can't remember now which one, but there is a pretty traditional representation of Satan in a suit with horns, goatee, etc.

I have got some of the old books and have read portions of them. Reading them now is very different to reading them as a JW, when I was still blinded by the brighter getting new light. I always felt they were written more church-like compared to the modern publications. The long paragraphs were not easy to read and understand. But I never understood why brothers were criticised for wasting valuable time in reading old publications.

Thanks WLG, I thought you meant the Deliverance! Book. fts

What Judge Rutherford did was to create his own personal religion which he named "The Jehovah's Witnesses".

He was their leader whom they admired and whose commands they would blindly obey, for Rutherford spoke Instructions from Jehovah, channeled by angels directly from the throne of God to his mind.

Oh, the insanity of it all.
