I have not yet read this book but heard of it and about it on NPR radio today. I think this pretty much sizes up the situation amoung today's JWs.

The theme has to do with a "secret" which really is not a "secret". In fact it is known by all but not discussed, kept silent. The point the author makes is this goes on in every aspect of our lives. How many "secrets" do the JWs not talk about. The Jehovahs Witness organisation counts on the silence; hence, their hatred of anyone who threatens that silence.

Perhaps this book does not break any new ground, but, brings home what we know is the worst part about being, been or related to a JW.

I heard part of this interview myself, and immediately thought about the Witnesses.

He showed how this same thing occurs in any number of organizations. The added power of it happening among the JWs is that you can be disfellowshipped and shunned for noting that there's an elephant in the room.
