If one of the “annointed” disagrees with current ‘thoughts’ does the gb say, “Well, they mustn’t be annointed”?

Is “anointed” status simply another matter of 'the slave’s opinion' ?

How does someone get to be an "annointed" anyway ?

More than that, they are disfellowshipped for apostasy. Only 'anointed' ones who blindly follow the GB are accepted as such.

They may be part of the FDS, but that means nothing since it is an illusion - all power is held by the GB, as 'representatives' of the FDS, which has no say in who represents them. Anyone who objects is removed from the Org.

You can be disfellowshipped for disagreeing with wt doctrine even if you are on the gb. We saw an example of this with Ray Franz. He was an anointed member of the gb, but they still threw him out on the street when he questioned some of the teachings.

As for how people know they are anointed, I have no idea on that one. I personally don't really believe in that now anyway.

Actually, Ray Franz was asked to leave Bethel but was not disfellowshipped for anything that happened there.

He attended a congregation for some time and worked for a brother there. Eventually that brother DA'd himself and Ray Franz continued to have a business relationship with him and at times ate dinner with this man. The WTS made a policy change about "eating" with DA'd people and retroactively DF'd Ray for that at a time he was no longer a member of the GB. As far as I know, no GB member has ever DA'd or been DF'd. He was not DF'd when he was at Bethel.

Jehovah's Witnesses are taught that Jehovah God himself deals directly only with a group known as "the remnant" and that other Jehovah's Witnesses must deal with Him through the Watchtower Society. The arrangement puzzled me. I asked: "Brother Franz, since the Watchtower Society in Brooklyn is the only outlet for God to speak through, by way of the printed materials and so forth, how would someone of the 'remnant' get information from God to other Witnesses? I mean ... how would an older sister, say, way out in the country, for example, give Spiritual food from Jehovah to others?" Franz's face turned red and he replied: "How? ... How? ... By supporting what is printed in the Watchtower, that's how!" With that, he went to his room. End of discussion. I had no idea that the question would draw such a reaction. The question was one that could not be answered by anyone at Bethel without admitting that they were the sole distributors of truth, which contradicted what they taught.

When an anointed individual disagrees with the Governing Body, it is not considered proof that the person never was anointed. However, should one persist in belief contrary to the doctrines promulgated by the Governing Body, upon discovery the dissenting person will then be DF'd and categorized as a member of the "Evil Slave Class". There was a Question from Readers many years ago that expressed the opinion that a DF'd anointed person could again be viewed as anointed after "re-instatement". While DF'd, the person is considered estranged from the Body of Christ, and thus no member of the "Faithful and Discreet Slave Class".

As far as the status as "anointed" being the opinion of the "Slave" -- even Bodies of Elders who by their own admission are NOT anointed are granted the right (by the Governing Body) to pass judgement on the validity of one's profession of being anointed. So one becomes officially anointed only by being recognized as such by the local Body of Elders.

The Doctrine of the Faithful and Discreet Slave is a false doctrine.

At one point we were (at least locally) taught that if an "annointed" DAs or got DFd, then his "place" was held until the bad annointed person actually died "out of the faith". Then, the empty slot in the 144,000 could be filled. The idea presented was that unless they had committed the "unforgiveable sin", they might someday repent and get their place back.

I never really got a good handle on what that "unforgiveable sin" really was, though...
