hmm that's strange, I can still see my old avatar in posts but I see the new one on my profile?! Anybody got any ideas on how to fix it?

What's your new avatar like - I see a cartoon cat/tiger at the moment (I'm sure he has a name!)
From what I remember, it can take up to 10 minutes for your avatar to change.

It doesn't change immediately, give it time. I changed mine recently, to my real picture, but was still posting with the old avatar for a while afterwards.

Hobbes!!! One of the best comic characters ever, along with Opus the Penguin from "Bloom County." GREAT choice, Caedes!
