This lady I work with started studying with mormons and then decided to quit. Whe said they told her she was in a darkness or an outer circle something like that. But at any rate she decided that she did not mind and never went back, she said she would live in her outer realm. It made me giggle and I can't remember the exact words for it, but she sounded disfellowshipped. They don't talk to her. Anyone know about this?

Yeah, When I was 15 I worked with a girl who's family were Mormon and she apparently made out with some guy in a hot tub (and if I remember correctly more was involved...) she was excommunicated for not being sorry for it and also because she didn't want to stop doing it :p

she didn't want to stop doing it :p
Right who would?
itsallgoodnow- thanks. I did not think of that. You would think as valuable as Wiki is, that I would remember to do this. As was said, google deep. Duh I saw theat the term banishment was used. I think that was the term she used. she was banished to the (????) I cannot remember the word. I hate it when I do that. It sounded really rediculous.

I was watching "10 years younger" and it featured a 22 year old girl that said she got baptized as a Mormon in her teens but when she was an unwed mother they "shunned her"....as a result of that she became severely depressed with NO friends. Sure reminded me of the JW's.

" Recently we've been the target of shunning from those faithful members of the church."
"I live in Utah and I will say that this is the NORM for Mormons here. They have treated me and my family this way for 20 years and I am still the topic of gossip after all these years. It just reminds me that their hearts are cold and they are lost. I've tried to be loving and compassionate, but now have grown bitter and want nothing from them. Sorry that my first post is so negative, but I know how this feels and it is so unchristian. How can they live with themselves?"
"I live in Utah in a nearly totally Mormon community. I knew and associated with my neighbors and had a good friendship. I was told by some that they were told by the bishop to stay away from me. It's not just me taking the initiative. In fact, I did at first. It is a practice of the religion to stay away from anyone who has left the church (apostate or knows the truth)"

"In other Mormon circles, we have been shunned and condemned. One of our children was derided by a Mormon classmate, who said that now that we had left the church, our child would end up 'doing drugs.' Another wanted to leave his Mormon Scout troop because of icy treatment from some of the boys.
Many Mormons have branded us as liars, called us ignorant, denounced us as publicity hounds, declared us to be possessed by the devil and accused us of disloyalty to family. It has even been falsely suggested that we left the church because of sexual infidelity. Still others sent us anonymous hate mail, accusing us of committing spiritual suicide and consigning us to hell."
