This is one of the many examples in the NT of textual variation. The KJV has "Christ" because that was in the Textus Receptus. Virtually all major unicals (KJV have "God". And yet....Polycarp of Smyrna (Philippians 6:2) makes reference to "the judgment seat of Christ," and since he was highly allusive of the Pauline letters, this suggests that the "Christ" variant was itself very early.

Thanks Leoilea, for your insight, your a star.
so what you are saying is that it is more than likely to be God, but there is still the possibility it could be Christ.

When i read this chapter , i got the impression it was refering to Christ.

As pointed out above text vary between "God" and "Christ"

But maybe taking a look at what other scriptures say may help understand.

    Rom 2:16 NKJV reads

"in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel."

    Acts 10:42

"And He ordered us to preach to the people, and solemnly to testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead."

Interestingly Calvin used this as a proof text for the Trinity in his "Institutes". Trinitarians tend to no longer use this text because recent scholarship favours the originality of "God".

This is more evidence that the text was tampered with to produce a higher Christology, and is the reason why many traditionalists want to stick with the King James.

    Slim:
Did you read the "Institutes" or cut'n'paste that from somewhere?
