    Imagine you can provide him/her with just one single chapter of any book available. Nothing more. No explanations. He/she would promise to read and think about what it says;

    What book - what chapter...please?

    I would all depend on what he has said in the past as to what values he considers important, what he has seen in the congregation that disturbs him, and how he tried to deal with any dissonance.

    Unfortunately, There is no "magic bullet". I used to think there must be, but what will work for one, may not work for another, as Blondie notes.

    I noticed a lot of ex-j.w.'s get good results with "Crisis of Conscience", by Ray Franz. It seems to wake up a lot of j.w.'s, if you can get them to read it.

    While I agree with both Blondie and Hubert; what I am suggesting is a hypothetical situation.

    Let's say your former best friend in the congregation, who knows you have left for 'reason' not just 'rebellion' calls and tells you he has no problem with the organization on any level - but he allows you to present him with just this one chapter - this is your one chance to open his mind/create real doubts/start the ball rolling.

    What do you use? Or is this just a silly idea to contemplate? I think it is a good one since all of us had a moment when we finally allowed ourselves to look thru the fog. Your friend/brother/sister just stated that he would look past the fog for a moment. What do you send him?

    I'm not sure about the 'one chapter' thing but this book helped me even more than Crisis of Consience and In Search of Christian Freedom. I'd even say it changed my life.

    Buy it if you can. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0330241273/102-1305623-8921747?v=glance&n=283155

    Since one thing won't work for all people, it is better to think about what people you know have mentioned in the past that concerns them about the WTS. If not them, someone else may bring it up. Be prepared with a variety of possibilities depending on what that person is concerned about. As to there being only one possibility, from you maybe, maybe, but something else will come up to build on the crack in their blind belief in the WTS. I did not exit on one topic or one attempt by someone to shed light on my darkness.

    I agree with everyone else. The "one thing" seems to depend upon the person individually. If they have a locked mind, then it may be that there is nothing you could show them that would sink it. At least not at that moment. Once the seed is planted though.........anything could happen down the road.

    The one WTS book exerpt that I read, that I thought would make a difference to me, personally, if I were in the JWs, would be : The Finished Mystery 1926, page 85 It goes to great lengths to explain how the leviathan is actually a locomotive! Gives Scriptural references, brackets of description of what the different parts are, etc.... it just floored me. I thought that any JW who would read that, would have to wonder what the heck kind of logic that is.

    But that is just my opinion. Some people just can't see the forest for the trees, so all you can do is your best and hope it will make a difference one day.
