Arapahoe County - A teenage boy told jurors Tuesday that he was sexually assaulted by a man who pretended to be a teenager and his friend. The 15-year-old told the court that Zuri McGhee, 32, pretended to be 16 and used their friendship as leverage in multiple assaults. McGhee said, "It might feel a little weird, but just trust me," the teen testified. Prosecutors said the 15-year- old is among 20 victims between the ages of 8 and 15 who were assaulted between 2000 and 2005 in Aurora. McGhee faces 77 criminal counts, mostly felonies, including multiple counts of sexual assault on a child and unlawful sexual contact. Prosecutors say McGhee told boys and their parents that he was 13 or 16. The boys, their parents and other family members thought McGhee was a muscular, polite young man who lived at an apartment with an uncle who was never around. "Dozens and dozens of people believed he was a child," said Deputy District Attorney Christine Schober during opening statements. Parents saw McGhee as a lonely, neglected boy and viewed him with sympathy. Parents so trusted McGhee that they invited him to sleepovers at their homes, Schober said. One family had McGhee move in with them. Not all the alleged victims knew each other, although many were from the same Aurora neighborhood and many also attended the same elementary school in Aurora. McGhee met two alleged victims while they were selling lemonade at a street-corner stand. Ted Stavish,

McGhee's defense attorney, told the jury McGhee did lie about his age. McGhee was raised a Jehovah's Witness and didn't get to celebrate birthdays because of religious beliefs, Stavish said. Lying about his age was an attempt to recapture his lost youth. Stavish described McGhee as a "lost soul." McGhee denies all of the sexual-assault allegations, Stavish said, and he pursued relationships with the boys because he enjoyed being a "big brother and mentor." The 15-year-old witness, however, told the court McGhee assaulted him and exploited his trust. The boy, who was 13 at the time, said McGhee told him he could develop muscle through massages. A massage led to a sexual assault, the teen said. The next night, McGhee wanted to massage him again. "I said 'no.' I felt uncomfortable," the teen testified. "He said, 'Trust me." HIS JW (assumed) MOTHER HAS ALSO BEEN CHARGED WITH FACILITATION, plus the son has previously committed similar crimes in other states.

Denver Post story by Jeremy P. Meyer

Soldad McGhee, 51, was arrested Wednesday on felony charges of assault on a child, according to Colorado Bureau of Investigation records.

Police say she facilitated her son's alleged assaults by renting him an apartment, paying his utility bills and driving him to sleepovers with children. Her son, Zuri-Kye Latifbay McGhee, is set for a three-week trial beginning July 17. He is facing 80 counts - mostly felony child-sexual-assault charges involving as many as 22 victims.

Zuri-Kye McGhee has pleaded not guilty. If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison. He is being held in the Arapahoe County Jail on $2 million bail.
Police say Zuri-Kye McGhee pretended he was a young boy, befriending preteens and sexually assaulting them. Many children alleged he assaulted them in an apartment he claimed was rented by his uncle, according to court testimony.

Zuri-Kye McGhee moved to Colorado in April 1999 after pleading to a lesser charge to avoid facing sex-assault charges in New Mexico, court records show. In New Mexico, he was charged with 23 felony counts of criminal sexual contact with minors, but the charges were dropped when he pleaded guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to court records. He served nearly a year in jail.

In an interview with The Denver Post shortly after her son was arrested last year, Soldad McGhee said she was shocked by the allegations. "I'd like to believe it's not true," she said. "I still would like to believe the good in my son." If it is true, she said, "Then he definitely needs help." Authorities now say they believe the woman "had partial involvement" in her son's alleged crimes, said Sgt. Rudy Herrera, Aurora police spokesman.
Soldad McGhee is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday at 8 a.m.

Accused molester's mom facing 4 counts

    July 7, 2006

CENTENNIAL - The mother of a 32-year-old man accused of posing as a teenager and molesting several children could face life in prison for allegedly helping him by not divulging his real age to victims' parents.

Soldad McGhee was arrested last week and faces four felony counts for her role in the case. Among other things, prosecutors allege that she introduced her son to two of his young accusers six years ago and insinuated he was about their age.

One of those children took Zuri-Kye Latifbay McGhee to his Arkansas Elementary School classroom in Aurora, where the man allegedly pretended to be the boy's brother in order to befriend others.

The man faces 77 counts for allegedly molesting 18 boys and two girls, who were between 9 and 16 years old at the time. His trial is scheduled to begin July 17.

I want to make something perfectly clear, studies have shown either your a pedophile or your not.Pedophiles have a sexual orientation toward children.

That being said,i will tackle a very sensitive issue on the sexual repression in the Jehovah's Witnesses and how it has fucked up millions of followers.Abominations like Cano, McGhee above and even Michael Jackson are a product of the Watchtower's "doctrine over person" in sexual matters including 'regulating' sexual behavior among married couples in their private bedrooms.

My repressed sex life in the Jehovah's Witnesses true story,i couldn't have made this up guys

Wonder if anyone could find out if the Mother is a JW now or in the past and if any congregations that they both attended had any problems with his actions.

Would hope that the Denver police would expand their search for past violations of congregation children in their previous kingdom halls, just by sending a letter to each congregation (they attended) to see if there were any complaints brought to the elders.

    Peace

AURORA | A man accused of posing as a teen to make friends with other children was on trial July 18 for several counts of sexual assault.

Prosecutors say he targeted children, even going to school with them to make friends. During opening statements in Arapahoe County on July 18, prosecutors said Zuri-Kye McGhee had a convincing cover — he liked to dress like a kid, ride bikes, skateboard, and play videogames.

Prosecutors said he easily gained the trust of dozens of children and their parents, many of whom let him spend the night in their homes. They argued in opening statements that he manipulated, fooled and molested 20 young victims, mostly boys.

On July 18, a 15-year-old boy who shielded his face from the defendant, took the stand and said he once looked up to McGhee.

"He said he was 15, grew up in Louisiana and was home-schooled," said the boy, who is not being identified."He acted like a kid."

The boy said his family was shocked to learn that McGhee was 31 years old when he was arrested.

"He said don't tell anyone because all the cool stuff would end and he couldn't be my friend," the boy said.

McGhee's defense lawyer said that McGhee is a man who was seeking family and because of his Jehovah's Witness faith, missed out on birthdays and other celebrations. The defense is not arguing the fact that McGhee was not honest about his age but they are denying all allegations of sexual assault.

McGhee is charged with more than 70 counts and is being held on $2 million bond and faces up to life in prison if he is convicted of the charges.

"And we take these type of cases in law enforcement, very seriously," said Kathleen Walsh, a spokeswoman with the Arapahoe County District Attorney. "This trial might be very lengthy. We're actually looking at two to three weeks. We're dealing with 20 victims and 60 witnesses."
McGhee's mother, Soledad McGhee, is also facing charges for allegedly perpetuating the myth and making others believe that he is a teenager.
