I was looking at the news yesterday, and it was reported that New York is having a power outage that is affecting over 50,000 people. It, also, said that St. Louis was going through a power outage as well. I wonder if there are any posters here affected by it? They wouldn't have a way to tell us.
And, with this heat, I bet they are really suffering!
We work w/ some firms in St. Louie and they have been without power for over a week. Everything is down. We only found out what was going on Friday, when we finally got thru to one of the firms and the woman who answered the phone told us how bad it was. Strange on how very little of it has been in the news. Just the general ... parts of St. Louis w/o power.
I live in the Philippines, and we have the geothermal power plant in our town. We have "brown-outs" almost daily.
Hell, we live by candle-light most of the time.

Looking-glass, it seems that it really bad! The people in New York have been without power for over a week, too! They have the Red Cross out handing out food and water. The water is contaminated in St. Louis.
From what I understand there is a boil order in effect for certain areas and for others they were told not to drink the water. A lot of people in the surrounding area have well water, so that could be a problem if they got the well tanks were contaminated. I know that in certain low lying areas that they were hit pretty bad.
I work near St Louis. The boil orders are now off as far as I know. There were more than 500,000 homes without power at the peak. We are down to around 25,000. Some in my office have been without power since last Wednesday. :(

My daughter is in St Louis.......and she was not affected.....although many times her power has gone off and on.
She confirms what FMZ says........but also lots of limbs and trees down too
