I can't believe you are here. Bravo!!! I am so glad to see you.
I just read your "I've got your back" comments to Nos/Ben and it finally hit me who you are. Then I had to go check your posting history and found the following at the end of Have I shocked everyone into silence? I hadn't seen it before. I'm so sorry but better late than never
Hiya Lee,
It's Brad in Winnipeg. We met when i responded to the local xdub Meetup chapter a few years ago when u were in Wpg.
I have not forgotten and have often wondered what happened to you. I'm so glad you and Nos have hooked up.
That day on the patio at the Kingshead Pub when we chatted is indelibly imprinted in my memory for the concepts you espoused on cults, mind control, conditioning and things dub, things i never knew or looked into. It was my initial foray into the world of things xdub and what actually happened to me and its effects on my life.
I was so scared I thought I had scared you off checking out the WTS. It's good to read it opened a door for you.
I left 20 years ago, never looked back and lived life full throttle since with no regrets and not without cost as i told you that day. Your candor on the events of your own life was both sad and uplifting due to the courage you showed in not only facing and overcoming the effects but was also inspiring and motivational for me in researching this whole thing.
Good for you. If any part of my story was helpful then I'm glad I shared it.
I still have the paper you gave me with Robert Lifton's definitions of mind control which was a catalyst for the research, reading and discussions that followed in the years since.
We just never know when something we say will finally click for someone. So many people ask "What can I give a JW to help them see". Good for you for taking the next step
Many layers of the onion have been peeled since that day and though the road through the backroads of my mind and heart were rocky and overgrown, it was and has been worth every moment, good and bad.
In the end it will be all good. Being free is the most important thing we have.
I have much respect for you and what you've done and are doing, not only for yourself but for the benefit of peoples like us everywhere. It reaffirms my belief in the cup half full and that even the smallest and briefest of moments can have profound effects in someones's life.
We sat and talked, what, maybe an hour? One brief moment in a life. So true. And thank you for your comments. Hearing that people do appreciate it and that it helps makes it so much easier to keep speaking out
Again my apologies for missing your post earlier But a hearty welcome to the forum
Lee
