I thought with all the anti American threads by Simon and others this is a story everyone can identify with. As the good book says'there isnt a greater love than when a man gives his life for his friend'.

Robert Cook saved an Australians life when he shielded her body from the impact in a skydiving plane accident. The accident happened in Missorie and Kimberly the Australian will be in hospital for around ten weeks.

The man should ALWAYS save the woman. Regardless of where they live ;) .

Criticising the actions of a government doesn't mean that someone hates all the people that live in that country. Obviously this is a really difficult and complicated concept, but I am not sure how I could express this more simply.

A sad but beautiful story of man's capability for extenuating humanity to fellow humans. His parents whilst grief stricken must be awfully proud of his bravery and making the ultimate sacrifice.

"Read some of Simons comments he trys his best" What silly nonsense. Simons comments are directed at American foreign policy, NOT individual Americans. He is just as willing to criticize the actions of his own government. You could have called your thread "Latvian saved by Taiwanese in Skydiving accident" and it would have had no greater significance. Are you going to go tell your Mommy on Simon for being a naughty anti-american?

Here is a quote on the story from aero-news. The man clipped himself to the girl so that he would take the full force of the impact. It always moves me reading stories of peoples heroics. I still struggle with the concept that I believed the only people worthy of salvation were JWs.

"Kimberly Dear is one of only two people who survived the accident, that claimed six lives. She was vacationing in the US when she decided to take a ride in the Twin Otter (file photo, above). She and another passenger are still hospitalized with serious injuries... but Kimberly's family says she's alive today only because of what Cook did to save her: shielding Kimberly, when he realized the plane was in trouble.

"(He said) I'm going to clip you to me so that I take the major brunt of the impact and hope for the best," Kimberly's sister, Tracy, told The Australian.

"There are no words that I can say, and nothing I could ever do, that would ever come close to expressing the sense of gratitude and admiration and respect I have for the guy," said Bill Dear. "The only words you can say is that he is her hero."
