Film: A young man is given a powerful sword by a wise old man so that he can save the princess and defeat an evil sorcerer. At the end of the film he saves all his friends but isn't able to defeat the sorcerer. Which film is it?

I would argue obi wan wasnt a friend, he was a mentor. I would also point out that obi wan didnt die, his time was simply up and he joined with the force as is evidanced by his appearances in the last two movies.
