Disfellowshiping and the United Nations

    When the Story Broke Forth

Being a newbie on this discussion board and
following the news concerning the United Nations
and the Watchtower, there are a number of questions
relating to this issue that need to be asked.

Exactly, who was responsible for the discovery con-
cerning the United Nations and The Watchtower
    Society?

It is well known that the article in the Guardian news-
paper brought forth the story, but was it one or several
of Jehovah's Witnesses that discovered the relationship?

    The purging begins

It has come to my attention that quite a number of
Jehovah's Witnesses were disfellowshiped in England
and other parts of the world after the scandal was
    discovered.

    Present Day

To date does anybody know whether or not the Society
ever informed the rank and file within the organization?
In addition, would an individual become disfellowshiped,
reproved or experience some sort of discipline within the
congregation if he or she were speaking about it?

Any information regarding these questions would be
    appreciated.

    Respectfully,

    Hey Wanderer!

There was a public announcement made in my congo in Sept or Oct 2002 that basically said: "We needed a library card and that's the end of it". I remember the "don't talk about it any more" was impllied.

If a Dub wants to question the voice of the GB (sent in letter form to the congo) only one thing is going to come out of it.

I recall a thread in which it was explained whom it was that made the initial discovery. They were former witnesses by the time I saw the report on it - but not sure if they were active witnesses when they figured it out or not. It was right after 9-11 that they did so, prob doing research on the UN following such events. Just a guess.

No and Yes. In that order. No information has been publicly distributed to the R&F regarding the matter that I am aware of. Yes, discussion of the matter in any negative light [and there seems to be little positive in this from a witness perspective, how could there be] will and has resulted in many being disfellowshipped.

As far as I know there has not been a public announcement about the UN association. The majority of the rank and file think that you are spouting apostacy if you tell them about the association. I have heard tell that the rumor is that the apostates are making it up to create problems for the brothers.

Yes, an individual would be disfellowshiped for discussing it. Both of my parents were threatened that if they spoke about it they would be dfed. About 6 months later they were dfed.

The elders have met in my x congo and have discussed if my husband and I should be dfed. They concluded that since we have stopped attending the meetings and no longer associate with the witnesses that they would just leave us alone. Don't know how long that will last though.

i told my body of elders about the UN and they were all shocked and was told not to repeat it again to anyone.

I'm surprised that someone would be df just for bringing it up when it's the truth and can easyly be checked.

I think the UN news broke here with this thread.

I believe it was Zev who found the news. Maybe he'll post and fill in the blanks.

OK, I just checked out the link Gary referenced. First of all, I had no idea this board had been around since Aug 2001. When did it start? Second, the appearance is that members of this board are the ones that actually did all the investigation and broke the story, not the Guardian. Is that true? Did they then tip off the Guardian? If that is true, we all owe you folks a tremendous debt of gratitude.
