Tell.Tale Signs.

A tell.tale is an outward indication of something secret, a revealing of what is meant to be secret. Going back before our fade four years ago, the elders unknowingly gave me a tell.tale sign that they were secretly discussing how they were going to delete me as an elder while still using me to do special assignments and some of the work that they were not up to doing. Here is how I found this tell.tale sign out.I filled out an application to Pioneer to set an example to the other local elders and to serve more fully with my schedule during the summer months. Most of our elders were Bethelites, a few of us were local.

The committee of three, the PO. the Secretary and the Service Overseer who decide if you qualify to pioneer turned me down. That was the Tell.Tale sign that something was going on behind closed doors. Later I found out that they were going to have a Judicial Meeting with a member of my family and had already made up their collective minds before hand that I would have to step down or be deleted.

When a family member does something wrong the Head of the house who is serving does not have to be removed. It is up to the body of elders to decide if he can remain a servant or not. When they turned me down, The red flag of the Tell.Tale sign went off in my mind. They told me the reason I should not pioneer was that I needed to work more with my family and should not take on anymore responsibilities. That was a switch that I have never of heard of before! Hence, the Tell.Tale that something was up behind closed doors.

Well, it all turned out for the best for us. They admitted that they made a big mistake asking me to step down as the congregation was very upset when this happened. Till this day many members of the congregation miss our family. They think I'm serving in another congrgation. I have not yet explained what actually happened, we did the quiet fade and the elders don't know where we are now. Only one close friend of ours knows everything, and he is doing the slow fade too.

Have you ever had the Tell.Tale sign come your way that something was going on behind closed doors about you?

When I was df'd, I appealed the decision because the elders didn't follow the WT guidelines (so I thought). The appeal committee met with me and within 15 seconds I knew it was just a formality because of the accusing statements and tone of voice starting with question #2. No surprise - they upheld the df'ing decision.

I left them a tell tale sign, I left my size 13 footprint on the inside of the Kingdom Hall door. The only thing that pissed me off is the 40 year hinges held.

The committee of three, the PO. the Secretary and the Service Overseer who decide if you qualify to pioneer turned me down.

First it was getting my KM from the book study leader (gawd I don't remember the possition title). Seems that my hand delivering my publisher records got misplaced by the PO, and they didn't order enough for the last 4 months because of it, so I had to "share" with my (new) husband.

About the same time, my "friends" started ignoring me at the hall. I'd end up alone going in F.S. if there were an odd number of us. And when I got bored as a new housewife, I asked to temporary pioneer, and was told that my family wasn't spiritually strong enough for me to pioneer. This was just before they told my (new) husband that they had considered him for an MS, but found him lacking because his whole family wasn't strong enough spiritually. Deceased dad, mother who pioneered, sister who pioneered, a bro-in-law who was an MS, and 3 others working their arses off in the ministry.

The Burns and Gamble show HATED my deceased father-in-law. Burns told me he was an evil man and deserved to go to hell! Seriously that's what the PO told me!

I didn't last more than a month after that, my husband already having stopped going because of his hurt. I think I managed 2 more memorials. This was late 1975 - so I've been out now over 30 years! YAY ME!

No but I think a few were sniffing something in the air when I failed to get baptized "at the proper time". But I did it in such a cold turkey fashion not many knew what was up, it helped I was sick a lot towards the end. Genuinely sick but I think the stress was mostly behind it. I was always such a good kid though so everyone bought my excuses. Fortunately I escaped any closed doors issues.

Lets see! Tell tale sign, I had a problem with my son, he had gotten a girl pregant while not living at my house, oh well that didn't seem to matter, I was suddenly asked how i would react at not giving the upcoming Book Study at our normal Book Study conductors house, when asked what do you mean how will I react, he has already told me that I am leading the Book Study? Well the brother (elder) told me not to be suprised if someone else showed up to give it. Well in fact that is just what happened, you want to talk about being embarassed, and that asshole they sent asked me to pray at the end of the book study and I declined saying I don't pray after being slandered indirectly or otherwise. That left that borther in a quandry as to what to do he asked again and I said what is it about no you don't understand, no i won't pray for the this nonsense. Well you here the eyes clicking after that comment from me. He then prayed and wanted to talk about it afterward I told him to get lost if he wants to stay healthy as I am in a fighting mood and he is real handy to smack so get your ass out of here, he left in one big hurry and yes I would have smacked him if he had opened his mounth up again.

Maybe the tell tale sign was when they grabbed me as i was trying to quickly leave. They wanted a sheparding call.. NOW... and they started pushing me if I had any questions and if I wanted to be a JW. The elder got so frustrated yelling at me as I was crying.. sobbing even and wouldnt quit yelling and I denied it all.
(To finish the story: They wanted a JC meeting so I went and DAed... lots easier than crying):)
