I have a thought

With the Bethel homes downsizing and letting people go into congregations and moving others to new areas, I had this thought. Doesn't it seem odd that the WTS is getting rid of older ones at bethel like seniors and I thought I bet they are doing this so that as these witnesses become older they would be a burden on the Bethel.

I was thinking that the Orangization doesn't want to be strapped paying for medical bills or witnesses who will need constant help or ones who have diseases like Alzheimer's.

It is pretty shabby to say the least that now the Society is getting rid of these older ones who have devoted most of their lives to the organization.

What a slap in the face. The Society hasn't an ounce of appreciation to those devoted ones. If I were let go I would be badly upset, I 'd feel like I was a piece of trash being thrown out on the streets.

    Any thoughts.???

But because they have given so much and are older they are less likely to turn their back on the organization no matter how they are treated, I guess that makes them somewhat safer prey.

I agree this is very said, but I am not surprised by it, knowing how the old and infirm were treated in my kh.

It seems sometimes to be a wts policy, to suck all the usefulness out of people, then throw them on the scrapheap.

There are a number of older JWS who are upset over bethel getting rid of older people. My mom for one. But what I have found is that the WTBTS is not stupid in that they are blaming it technology. Now keep in mind this is the same religion that has promoted the idea that the internet is evil that technology is for the most part not to be trusted. So this feeds into the fear that older people have of technology. For example, my mom is intimidated by technology, she has to learn new financial software all the time and it drives her nuts. So she is torn between the WTBTS letting lifers who are now her age go (and replacing them w/ younger people) and the idea that technology has done away w/ their jobs. This is the older JW generations fear. So now instead of my mom now saying that it is sh*ty for the WTBTS to do this, she now says "I am teriffied that my job will be done away with like what has happened in bethel" this is a new spin. So the brainwashing has begun (at least in my mom's case)

A side note on the down sizing, why are they planning to build four new towers with 1000 or so beds if everyone is going home or to Patterson.

I have not heard about this ... how can you say you are downsizing and then build four new towers w/ additional bed. What, is it going to be for the stepford wives that they are going to bring in to service the men there?

...seeing how the wtbts is strapped for cash....they are probably being built to be sold....at a rather large profit, since the labor will probably be done by "christian" volunteers

how true , they dump the old ones and still calling 19 years old to bethel.

A good friend of mine' son left for bethel 2 months and calling many other young ones. use them in their youth, not allow them to get an education or a skill and then send them home when they are used and old with no money or skills.
