Just reading some Christian news and came across this hard story.
A poll conducted by what bills itself as "the world's most visited Christian website" indicates a surprising number of Christians are addicted to pornography.
"The poll results indicate that 50% of all Christian men and 20% of all Christian women are addicted to pornography,"

The intense energies triggered off by viewing naked human bodies can be chanelled away from sexual desire into creative thinking, unless one is an immature teenager.

In my grandfather's day, portions of the 'Sears' catalog was considered pornography! Well, I guess it was probably better than 'The Watchtower' magazine.

greendawn! Why would anyone want to do that?!! Unless they were pummelling their bodies and attempting to deaden the body members like the apostle Paul? I have another method of immunifying oneself against the incitements of naked bods. Having spent the last 3 days transferring my collection from VHS to DVD is enough to put one off for life!

I believe firmly, that when a natural desire such as sex, is repressed, it can lead to all sorts of problems. Christians, in general, do deal with this type of repression. The statistics are in no way astounding.

Now why doesn't this surprise me? Oh, I remember... I've known perverts who didn't talk about sex as much as some devout Christians I've known.
The solution is simple: Stop demonizing sex and allow the "flock" to be free to express what comes naturally in a healthy manner. Unfortunately these churches have told their members that "everyone else" engages in regular sex orgies and all sorts of depraved acts in order to scare the members. The down side to this is that if the church members are "let loose" they will instantly take off doing all of the worst things they *believe* everyone else is doing.

Stop demonizing sex
Well said E! First of all to each their own, if people want to look at naked bodies, why in world do we care. As long as it is not child porn or snuff, adults are entitled to the privileges of being an adult.
I am the biggest feminist there is and I don't feel that nudie mags or porn demoralize women. If people go into it that is there choice. If people have issues w/ it don't buy it.
What slays me is that America is a country w/ the biggest group of religious nuts and over the top puritans, but they are the biggest contributors to the child sex slave trade in third world countries. We are a country of hypocrites, a bible in one hand, child porn in the other and a hard on. Makes me want to throw up!

Well if 50% of the Christian men who are notorious liars and 99% of the worldly men are addicted to porn it sounds to me that porn and sex are normal. Those that do not partake are suspect.
What it really is in my opinion is Sex is natural and those that try to control you want you to think you are sinning so they can collect a monetary pentinece for your repentance. Your desire will be back tommorow. Its never ending. Its just like consuming a meal. Sex and drugs and rock and roll, along with money these are things that make the world go round.
I would suspect that those males that do not consume pornography have a chemical imbalance or are not connnected to the innernet. They are probably the ones that are consuming the viagra trying to fix their imbalance.

Sex as taught in the church I attend.
Sex is between a married man and woman.
Sex is both for pleasure & procreation.
Any sexual act done in the confines of marriage is permissible.
Sex outside of marriage is not sanctioned.
Pornography is to be avoided because it violates Matt. 28:5, "But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."
