Why Don't They Just Come Clean?

I'm sure that many of us exes are angry with the Watchtower because you feel like you've been lied to.
For years you are told to believe in them implicitly, not to question, not to look else where for answers.
I think the governing body would gain a lot more respect and credibility if they simply came clean and stated the truth, i.e. Look guys, we get things wrong, we've changed our beliefs time and time again, and we expect that some of what we believe now to be incorrect.

Keeping up this charade of being inspired by God into this century is going to give them more problems than ever. Several threads on this site have allready predicted certain doctrinal changes and these are rapidly becoming over-due. Them leaving it later and later to be honest with their members is going to prove more costly in the long run.

One question I've always had: I've always known it was a money organization. That was clear from 13fuckingyo. But I never clearly saw where the money went. Being at Bethel, I still couldn't see and grand palatial suites where the powerholders might really live in the lap of luxury. Just yesterday I learned that the Society works the stock exchange, and that helped a bit. But, where do their millions of dollars actually GO? What greedy person or persons actually GET the nectar, the distillation, the creme, the top notch of all that money, after it's laundered and helped in stocks? Are there a handful of star chamber types who aren't even GB, but pull Their strings?

I've been forced to think them kind of zany to steal all this moeny, and then not do anything terribly interesting with it. What kind of evil frontman is that? It's lame.

So what do they do? I'm sure there's something juicy..

Teirce: There are benefits for the top men, though not really measured in in the you'd think. They are not totally 'living the life of luxury' that they probably could, but on the other hand, they are very well cared for. I.E. when traveling, it's done first class. When dining, it's done first class. And I dare say the new retirement community, oops, house of education in Patterson is a pretty nice place to live your remaining years of life.

However, I think it's more about POWER and CONTROL than money. It's just that money is a perfect tool to have to ensure that that power and control remains yours. Nothing like having your own slaves who jump at your every command now is there? Nothing like being treated as gods on earth by hundreds of humans daily is there?

I have come to believe that most JWs all of the way up the ranks truly believe that the GB are inspired as they claim, just as many of us here once believed. This is because most JWs have no idea how the GB operates and how policies are formed.

If there is anyone who absolutely knows that they are a fraud, it is the GB members themselves. I have many times asked myself the same question as to why they just don’t come clean and tell the truth.

Trying to give the GB members some benefit of doubt, I sometimes wonder if they are victims of their own religion. There is no doubt that these men know that they are not what they claim to be. However if they were to come clean and tell the truth, what would become of the six million JWs that these men feel responsible for, who have invested their entire lives and hope in this false claim. Do they want to be responsible for over 6 million shattered dreams?

I wonder if once they reach this level in the organization and come to the stark realization themselves that this claim is not true, if they feel that keeping up the lie is the lesser of two evils and therefore justify keeping up the charade.

If this is not the case, I don’t know how these men can sleep at night.
