king of the north?

I haven't been to a meeting in 2 years so I don't know if this is right.

I was wondering if the US after these terrible attacks can be identified as the king of the north in daniel? or has that already been identified?

No, the US has never been identified as the King of the North but the King of the South.

Up until the collapse of the Soviet Union, they were the King of the North.

Yet again, the Society is doing handstands to fabricate a new way to trace the King of the North and the King of the South to keep up with world events. I think that China is the next likely canidate.

My JW friend called me the other day.. Typical (although normally he doesn't preach to me at all, which in and of itself is not normal from what I've heard).. Anyway, we spoke, and of course he told me how 'concerned' he was about the start of war.

I did say to him, don't tell me, you guys now know who the king of the north is suddenly, right? He said no, but one can pop up at any time..

Ughhh... Nausiating in the extreme... I can only feel for all of you people who's family is in this cult... I have a friend whom is in the cult, and my heart goes out to how badly he is being decieved without even realizing it.. I cannot even imagine the inner turmoil you go through with family shunning you, etc..

Me, I'm lucky.. Don't really know why, but my friend won't end the relationship (although he certianly is trying to hide it from his family and fiancee).. He has tried a couple of times to 'get me angry' at him so he can walk away, of course, I follow god's law, and forgive him and apply even more love towards him in those times.. Usually it takes about 2 weeks before he gives up, and then we are 'friends' again (eat together 1-2 times/month, call and email each other a couple of times/week) for another month or two until he tries again..

I've told him that I, just like he, will never walk away from my friends.. So, if he has a problem, he can tell me to go take a hike, but I will never do that, and will never stop being his friend and showing him love until he says the words, "Get lost"... After that I will certainly respect his wishes, but will still consider him my friend, and will still continue to love him unconditionally...

Ehhh, on second thought, maybe I do know why he is still my friend.. <G> One can only hope he's seeing the hypocrisy of his religion during all of this!!!!

Sorry, didn't mean to diatribe about me.. My heart goes out to all of you with family still in.. I don't know how you handle it.. I have a hard time with my friend at times.. Just want to grab him by the shoulders and "shake the truth into him"... But you cannot, only patience will work along with alot of prayer!!!!

I think it is wishful thinking that China may become the "king of the North." The problem compared to the Soviet Union is China's ranking as a trading partner with the US. China is the second biggest trading partner and the number one country in terms of trade deficit.

China needs the US as much as the US needs China's cheap goods. You don't go to war with your best customer!

Of course the Kings of North and South pertain only to Biblical times and it is a real stretch jumping 2000 years in a verse or less. But then again, since this doesn't worry the WTS writers then I suppose switching the US from king of South to King of North could be accomplished. (The northern governments of the US and Britain became the "South" in the first place because Britain once held Egypt).

Who knows, if the WTS is still around in 2025 (headquartered in Brazil maybe) all the kings will have lost their crowns and new ones will be in fashion?

King of the North and King of the South is one of my favorites. I love to ask who is what this week.

Cracks me up. The jump from Rome to Britain over the span of 1000 years makes me laugh. Spain, France, Portugal and the Netherlands were all world powers too. Just because Britain spawns the US and thus has a tie to the current most powerful power on the planet.

Got another call from my friend this morning.. He told me that they had their "special meeting" yesterday..

I told him that I read somewhere (on this board) that 13 witnesses were killed in the attack.. He corrected me, and said 1 sister was killed, and 13 are missing.. He is quite aware of the fact that I am still reading apostate material...

He then proceeded to tell me that Brooklyn has a 'fund' where they are going to help with relief efforts.. He said that they are sending people down to help with the cleanup.. He then proceeded to say he was surprised by that, since they are neutral, but the society has determined this is NOT caused by war, but terrorism, and the world trade tower are their neighbors.. I said that was mighty neighborly of them.. Asked who they are donating the money too.. He said no-one. The organization itself is going to run their own clean-up.. (I guess they don't want any of that money going outside the organization)..

I wonder exactly how much money they need to pay their volunteer brothers and sisters (if indeed they are doing this, which I highly suspect, unless they are digging looking for the missing brothers/sisters) and how much money will goto other stuff, like printing :-)

Well, the good news is that he seemed confused at some of the stuff he heard yesterday... Hmm, one can only hope and pray..

He did tell me that people are much more receptive to hearing him when he did his door knocking Saturday morning....
