Those are really something. Thanks. Such crystal clear pictures, and definitely "up close." I don't recall ever seeing anything like them.

Major world events always bring out the nutters!

Terrible. Not just because of the lives lost or because of the political reprecussions that followed.

Those buildings were priceless works of art in themselves. They were constructed differently than other skyscrapers in that the exterior shell is what was providing the support.

So when you walked up to the bldgs and put your hand on it you were not touching a facade but the actual supports.

Those pictures were great. But I hve to agree it makes me very very sad to think of the senseless loss of life and the loss of those great structures, and the world repercussions. We should all remember no one is immune from terrorist attacks.

You can see the golden sphere sculpture sitting there in the plaza surrounded by thousands of tons of steel debris. It boggles the mind to think that it was not squashed like a bug by the rain of falling debris. It just goes to show that a chaotic and enormous event like this can have lots of weird, unexplained things happen....like the people in the WTC 1 stairwell who survived the collapse, like the pairs of pants from a WTC department store that got blown intact during the collapse into a fire truck (misleading others to think that firefighters were looting), like the passport of one of the hijackers that reportedly survived, like the guy who was on the same floor of WTC 2 that the plane crashed who survived, like the officer in the Pentagon who was in the direct path of the plane inside the building who survived, like the woman who stood at the edge of the gaping impact hole in WTC 1 before it collapsed, etc. Did anyone see the program American Vesuvius on the History Channel last week that went into the science of this? It describes how in both disasters of the eruption of Vesuvius and the WTC, "amid the utter destruction, small and seemingly random pockets were left undisturbed while everything around them was pulverized".
