Certainly not the WTS!!! And certainly not a prophetic picture of "the Organisation?"

It simply means what it says, Jesus encouraging watchfulness on the part of those who would be his followers; so the F&DS is any follower of christ who is faithful. See the following parable of the ten virgins.

How come the "slave" in watchtower terms, is a group of people who give the orders and make up the rules? That's not what a slave is.

Funny, I was just discussing the same thing with some family members earlier today.

My take on it is this: In Matthew chapters 24 and 25, Jesus compares the 'last days' with various situations (parables?):

    1: The great flood
2: Tho men working in a field
3: A faithful and discrete slave
    4: 10 virgins
    5: A main going on a journey

JWs (or rather the GB) pick situation number 3 and state, that this particular parable is more than just a story or comparision. They claim it shows that God will pick a servant when the time comes. They don't claim the same for the other things Jesus mentioned, only number 3. They don't, for instance, claim that Gods people on earth should be governed by 5 wise virgins... interesting as that would be.

I can't see why Jesus' story number 3 in this section should be more than just a story to describe how things will be. After all, the other 4 where just that. There are things in the Revelation and elsewhere that speak of a great crowd and a small crowd, but nowhere (as far as I know) does the bible connect these statements to Jesus mentioning the FDS.

So, my personal view is that this section from Matthew does not state, that God will have a FDS today. I believe Jesus (or at least the author of Matthew) was describing how things would be when he 'came in his glory', whatever and whenever that was. I believe it talks of the sacking (?) of Jerusalem in the year 70.

    Hope it makes sense.

    Best regards

I'm sure the writer(s) of scripture never imagined there would be a time and place in society in which human rights had evolved to the point where owning a human being for one's own purposes would be regarded as reprehensible!

SLAVERY is an evil in which coercion deprives indivduals of individuality and robs the underclass of the right to better themselves. That there can exist an organization (Watchtower) which embraces the notion of slavery and servitude as an apt, fitting and appropriate metaphor for social change says a lot about their core values.

Paul, it is to be remembered, openly advised Onesimus (escaped slave) to RETURN to his master!

Paul is role model? Such advice should stand today? Disgusting!

What raises humanity above animals is the inherent rationality of choice among alternatives. We survive as a species on our ability to recognise reality and deal with it to better ourselves. Merely following commands due to ownership of personhood cannot be raised up as an IDEAL of behavior!

The religious organization of Jehovah's Witnesses seeks to belittle humanity to the point of undermining free choice and substituting the fiats and edicts of an elite (governing group) in place of individual rationality. That this coup is called divine governance is further evidence of fraud and malfeasance.

The history of Jehovah's Witnesses as a body of people who behave according to an organizational expression of stated opinions misrepresented as "from above" amply demonstrates error and corruption.

In short: the organizers just make it all up as they go along. The people suffer and the ruling body makes excuses for the failures. The only true "slaves" in this religious group are the people who surrender their mind to dictators who remonstrate through pulp fiction dressed up as God's instruction.

There is nothing discreet in the purpose of the ruling elite in Brooklyn. They are after POWER over human beings who they consider their property.

If this isn't evil; what is it? Mental illness?

    Hello KW13,

I'm thinking...#1 that the slave would be giving spiritual food to the domestics, (or ones already in the household of God).

#2 that the slave would all be united as one, or an individual. (I would say, considering the context, all, united as one)

I do believe there are 2 groups of christians with one hope, (the earth)...So, I'm inclined to believe the slave would be the 144,000, all united together in Christ, and concerned with the sharing of the good news with one another.

The evil slave would have to be the ones who got power hungry and oppressive to their fellow slaves.. like the GB as a group.

My understanding is that other Christian religions view the "faithful and wise servant" as each individual Christian-----not a group of 12 power hungry mad men.
