Last night, I complete my class, and I get to my car and turn on the radio. The Dodgers are losing 9-5, I figure it's over, but I listen anyway. 1, 2, 3, 4 home runs later the game is tied, and I am pulling into my driveway. Two of them against the best closer in this era of baseball, Trevor Hoffman!
I run upstairs to my apartment, and see the Dodgers go down. By now, I'm thinking that this is another Gibson moment. Sure enough, Lofton gets on base, and I am thinking, Just a base hit. Just get on base. Then boom! Wow! What a game! Moments like these are really what makes baseball great, and why though baseball is no longer my favorite sport, is a game that is too good to ignore.

The Los Angeles Dodgers. They used to be in Brooklyn, then moved to LA.
I don't think they have been in the World Series for a while [ The USA Championships ] that I recall.
Baseball puts me to sleep.

The Dodgers are the Los Angeles baseball franchise. They used to be in Brooklyn. until 1957, when they moved to Los Angeles. They are best nown for two things. First, and foremost, they were the first Major League baseball team to break the color barrier, by signing Jackie Robinson in 1947. Secondly, for being the New York Yankees whipping boy in the 50s.
The last time the Dodgers won a World Series (US Baseball league championship) was 1988. That series was marked by the single greatest homer run in World Series history by an injured Kirk Gibson won game 1 with a dramatic 9th inning home run.
The importance of this game is this. In the 180 year history of Major League Baseball, only four teams have hit 4 home runs in consectutive at bats, and it has never been done in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Jeff, baseball puts me to sleep also. Especially on TV, but when things like this happen it is truly amazing.

Here is a link to the video highlights of that last inning. I'm not a big baseball fan (though I like it WAAYYYY above NFL Football). I'm more of a soccer fan, and only now and then.
But this is fun to watch. I feel sorry for the spectators who left early and missed the best part!
