Jw-Media.org - What is the point???

When looking at this webpage I have allways been shocked by the lack of information that JWs release about themselves. One of the most striking things this year was that they (to my knowledge) never made an official release about the death of Dan Sydlick, but they have made releases about other members who have died in the past.

I think this follows along with my theory that Broolkyn just dons't have it all togeather, and I don't think they ever really did. They are able to make the adverage JW think that their organization is this huge streamlined operation where everything is so efficent. This just isn't the case. It's just like every other org where sections fight for power, work is done half assed, and there is allways the bottom line. The funny thing about Brooklyn to me is how they seem to buy into their own nonsense. They think they are walking on water when in reality they allready drowned.

I mean, did anybody even see that new tract??? The cover photo is all blurred and grainy. Looks like they took a photo off of a stamp and enlarged it.

As much as they are able to decieve, hurt and be all out liars there also is another aspect to them. They are sloppy.

They've turned a printing business into a religion into a subculture that they can't fund and they can't manage. Their convention topics like "obedience", their member literature that tell them to conform and ignore the man behind the curtain, and news carried out of the back rooms by departing members all say: "We can't manage this!".

You raise an interesting point, I guess I always thought they would be pretty good at what they did. I do remember a book study and some subtle changes were pointed out by some who had earlier books (dont remember the publication now) I was surprised at the time being a child, thinking they cant make mistakes - now i realise it was an unanounced update. Someone here pointed out recently that they still have information refering to the generation teaching - and how long has that been changed! Your right they are sloppy.

The same is true of their site called, Watchtower.org. At one time, these sites allowed for some decent searches, and they had enough information that we could easily quote them, such as their pedophile policy. The Society has clearly dumbed-down their sites, likely the result of their lawyers making them. Also, the Society used to have the Pennsylvania web site for their Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society of Pennsylvania. That website is gone. I suspect that in the future, they will dumbe it down to the point of onbly showing the latest magazine offer, a bible offer, and their main book of the month offer. They are afraid of what and how ex-JWs can embarass them.

I would say it's there so if there's a question about the JW's from a media source, they can be directed there to get the official "spin" on the JW's take, true or not. It's mostly a a forum for them to do press releases and PR BS like that.

A couple of thoughts about the WTS websites

The media site is an easy way for them to refer journalists to so they can get canned answers. No opportunity for further questioning
The less they publish on the net the more they can deny. Sort of "If it's not on our site then it isn't true" A rather easy way to tell the R&F that apostates make up all kinds of lies.
Thw WTS is all about information control. And the lawyers are all about making sure the WTS doesn't get sued for its policies, prejudices and outright political incorrectness. The less on the sites the less they have to answer for if they winds up being sued. They are having a hard enough time editing all their own published works that are taken into court.
