Letters sent to elders signed anonymous?

I recently had a well meaning friend give the PO a letter concerning me. It was all about an incident I like to call "the picture heard around the world". It got me to thinking about the possibilty of someone sending the elders a letter without signing their name to it. Perhaps with the intention of "getting back" at another or being "concerned" after witnessing something. I know elders love investigations to break their boring routine. Not sure if they need a face to go with a letter before proceeding.

Has anyone heard or been stung by such letters?

It is theoretically possible to cause all kinds of chaos in a congregation by sending anonymous letters making random accusations against random people.

Elders are stuck in a pursuit mode as opposed to a "shepherd" mode. They won't even consider whether or not the accusation is bogus, they will just grill the accused until he/she is curled up in a corner sobbing uncontrollably.

The beauty of this is that one could send a letter ever so often until the elders catch on and start to ignore all anonymous accusations. At that point one could get away with just about anything since the elders will no longer believe anything that is sent to them.

I've never heard of any of that. Mostly I hear of people who go straight to the elders and don't care if everyone knows they are snitches. Snitches are rewarded and everyone is one anyway.

Years ago when I was still with the WItnesses, there were a series of letters being mailed, first to the BOE, then the MS, then peioneers, then regular publishers, it eventually made its way outside of the congregation to neighboring congregations and last the WTS.

These letters were criticizing the BOE for their lack of love. Eventually "apostate" literature was also being mailed out.

THE BOE thought it was me and they came after me with everything they had. But they had no proof, just suspicion. I have better things to do then waste my time and money sending copies of "CRisis" tp dubs I knew would not read it.

When I was younger there was a huge up roar over unsigned letters being sent to the WTBTS and the BOE regarding an elder's wife who was a [fill in naughty word here]. Anyways, then started a witch hunt to figure out who was sending letters telling on the High Priest's wife. They never could figure it out.

It is a good timewaster, or eyeopener, but they can not use the information on its own to d/f someone, as an unsigned letter does not count as "two eyewitnesses".

Anonymous letters, while annoying, really should have no impact. If one knows a fellow witness has DONE something aren't they supposed to go to that person first, before going to the elders? Anonymous letters and notes can not be shown to have followed that step.

This is just my opinion for what it's worth.

Why shouldn't the elders respond to letters sent annonymously? The society does it all the time and they expect us to follow their every word. From their NWT that was completed without giving the translators names to articles in the Witchtower or Asleep that just say 'awake correspondant in xxxxx'. Even the BOE letters and congregational letters are not signed. They've stamped with WTB&TS.
