Do they still use the same fear inspiring annoncement to presure brothers not to park free on the street where they say is a high crime area and not safe, but instead are strongly encuraged to by a parking ticket from them and park safe in the patroled Cow Palace parking lots. I used to hate reading and hearing this message being repeated so many time durring the sessions.

Well it was a high crime area (probally still is) but I don't know if it was as safe to park in those lots vs parking on the street. I do recall that regardless of the warnings from the "brothers" alot of people parked streets surrounding the Cow Palace. We parked in the lots only because it was more convenient walking kids (one in a wheelchair so we got to parking in the handicap spaces right in front ) that short distance.

Mrsjones,
Yeah they were probably right but the way they would drum it into the friends was a bit much.

Yeah they did and I guess still do overplay it but for some folks after being in it for so long (me: since birth to early 20's) they kinda get numb to it. I know I did.

Mrsjones,
You never know I might have seen you at a conventions and secretly lusted after you, a petty black girl among the many I found sexually arousing, but had to pretend only proper motivations.

They don't charge for parking anymore - at least not at the Cow Palace. And I'm not so sure their fears are unfounded in that neighborhood.

Yeah there is no fee for parking at any of the US convention sites. You just drive up and park.

They keep repeating things like this, because there is ALWAYS someone that says they didn't hear the announcement.
Plus, 'repetition for emphasis' is a J.W. catch phrase.

The WTS needs to stop using the cow palace and start using the oakland coliseum It is much nicer and I am sure probably cheaper than the cow palace. I remember going there and the place sucked. I also remember one year at the old Kezar stadium in golden gate park.

We went there once with our two very young daughters and were afraid for their lives; the neighborhood was scary. Then we got inside and had to sit in the nosebleed eats behind two big columns so we couldn't see anything and the air conditioning couldn't keep up. So we left, took the kids back into the city, swam in the pool, went to dinner, got up the next day and went home. A week or two later we went to Cal Expo in Sacramento for the other two days. That was 25 or 30 years ago, and probably my first act of civil disobedience as a dub.
