How do you choose an e-mail address?

I have finally gone onto broadband today. I have a new ISP, and I am thinking of changing my e-mail account to them. It would certainly be a good way to leave behind all the spam and marketing e-mail for a few days.

My problem: choosing a new address.

I don't want something that will link me to my online persona, so Fe2O3Girl@something is out. I don't want something that will link me too obviously to my location. I would use my real name, but it's already been used. I don't want something tacky (partyon@groovydude). I want something simple and easy to convey (although as the format is [email protected], it is always going to be a mouthful), so rachel@leftyfeministguardianreader is probably a bit much........

My head hurts. This is why I never got a tattoo, either.

Well for one of my email addys, I used the online translator to translate a phrase into another language and found something that's complicated, a handful, but clever. I like it.

Do you have any hobbys avocations interest. Use them.

Thank you jaguarbass - I learned a new word: avocation.

Have you tried something like [email protected] or [email protected] (made up last name).

Or yeah if you have hobbies you like you could incorporate those.

I have an email address that's just my name, first and last. They used to say you shouldn't do that. I don't remember why.

I have another email address that's a bit more anonymous. How about [email protected]?

Haha, I don't know. I don't feel like I'm actually being very helpful, but I'll hit Post anyway.
