Looks like it's the not just the JWs who have teenagers "leaving in droves".

I'm curious to see what the religious landscape will look like 20 or 30 years down the road.

In this enlightened age with the innernet and cable tv, it will be very difficult for con-men to get over on new recruits.

or as you say,Evangelicals fear the loss of their teenagers

I found this article fascinating and printed it out this morning. It seems their figures and estimates may not be quite as drastic as some of them are saying, but I did find it encouraging!

There doesn't seem to be a very large ex-evangelical or ex-pentecostal presence on the internet, although you could draw many parallels between them and JWism. I attribute this lack to the fact that both of these religious movements only recently experienced explosive growth, and so a good portion of the flock are first-generation, the diehards.

I imagine that a lot of these kids who are leaving the faith are simply guilt-ridden, quietly-doubting-but-not-intelligent-or-informed-enough-to-connect-the-dots inactives, which is the inevitable lot for most children raised in a fanatically religious household, at least for the ones who don't become fanatics themselves. But there must be a few who are smarter than that, and I hope that in coming years that we'll see them becoming more vocal on the internet.

Like so many in the world who view JW's as a harmless, goofy little sect because they have no first-hand experience with the oppressive group dynamic that exists inside, so it is with the evangelicals and pentecostals, and this is why there is such a need for an apostacy to take place in those religions.
