I am so happy for her. It is only the second birthday we are celebrating. She is very excited as we are having a party at a local pizza place that she and all her friends hang out at and then invited 10 of her closest friends to go to the arcade afterwards - tokens on me and her father.

I was thinking how less than 3 years ago now my daughter was very depressed and spent most of her time in her room. She had NO friends at the hall at all! Even though she became an unbaptised publisher at 10 and was in service every weekend, I allowed her to take private art and music lessons. She is a very gifted kid. Also she is kind of eccentric but very friendly. On the weekends my daughter would dress a little "funky" kind of a cross between goth and punk. That did not go down well with the dubs.

I told her I don't care how she dresses as it is just an expression of herself. The only thing I would hate to see is her putting piercings in her face. She is very pretty! I guess the dubs labeled her as bad association and from the ages of 10 -13 she had NO association with friends at all. My hubby was strictly against having "worldly" kids over.

My son fared better as we were on our way out by the time he got to the age (middle school) of wanting to have get togethers with friends.

My daughter has so many friends now we had to limit her birthday party as there would not be enough room for family. Imagine that! They are all basically good kids. I still sit here and reflect on our lives in the borg. and ask myself many times "what in the world was I thinking?"

Have to go now, we are leaving in a few minutes.

    Freedom tastes so sweet! Lilly

Happy Birthday to your daughter, a birthday always gives kids the attention that they crave by putting them at centre stage of the event. After the cult life gets normalised.

Yes, freedom from the cult certainly brings many benefits and happinesses!

Thanks everyone - I passed on the messages. It was a lot of fun. All our daughters friends thanked us. My hubby and I got right in there too playing with the kids at the arcade. They really enjoyed it and I heard the kids telling my daughter how cool her parents were. And how their parents never play with them.

We are so glad to be out of that organization. Today we were saying how we got out just in time as the kids are getting older and it would have been sad to miss all of their childhood birthdays and xmas and then discover when they are grown we missed out for nothing! This happened to a friend of mine who left right after me. She wanted to go back but once she read my DA letter decided not to. When she left a year ago her kids were already 18 and 21 and NEVER had a birthday. She is so bitter. Thanks again all, Lilly
