I am so happy for her. It is only the second birthday we are celebrating. She is very excited as we are having a party at a local pizza place that she and all her friends hang out at and then invited 10 of her closest friends to go to the arcade afterwards - tokens on me and her father.
I was thinking how less than 3 years ago now my daughter was very depressed and spent most of her time in her room. She had NO friends at the hall at all! Even though she became an unbaptised publisher at 10 and was in service every weekend, I allowed her to take private art and music lessons. She is a very gifted kid. Also she is kind of eccentric but very friendly. On the weekends my daughter would dress a little "funky" kind of a cross between goth and punk. That did not go down well with the dubs.
I told her I don't care how she dresses as it is just an expression of herself. The only thing I would hate to see is her putting piercings in her face. She is very pretty! I guess the dubs labeled her as bad association and from the ages of 10 -13 she had NO association with friends at all. My hubby was strictly against having "worldly" kids over.
My son fared better as we were on our way out by the time he got to the age (middle school) of wanting to have get togethers with friends.
My daughter has so many friends now we had to limit her birthday party as there would not be enough room for family. Imagine that! They are all basically good kids. I still sit here and reflect on our lives in the borg. and ask myself many times "what in the world was I thinking?"
Have to go now, we are leaving in a few minutes.
Freedom tastes so sweet! Lilly
