As mentioned in a previous thread last week - my niece called about her fears over violating WTS doctrine regarding blood use. Wifey and I were able to convince her that she should use her mind, and not some foolish doctrine without basis for her decision in this regard.

During the call I set up a meeting at her home - to meet her new husband and to drop off a few related articles [non Jw] to combat the Watchtower doctrine on blood, and a copy of ISoCF.

It was a happy reunion. Though we live in the same area, I had not seen her for a couple of years. She da'd about a year and a half back, due to unwillingness to 'shun' her daughter who was disfellowshipped. I was unaware of that, but pleasantly surprised. We spoke for a couple hours about our common background in the organization, read some telling scriptures that showed the WTS was wrong on some matters, and generally agreed that the 'truth' wasn't. I left her the material to read.

It was very fulfilling to aid her to begin the process of shedding the guilt that has laid on her since she left the organization. It was also nice to know that she will never go back - but now she can begin to heal as she reads Franz' book, and knows she has someone to lean on as she heals.

    Just wanted to share.

That was a good move to help an emotionally confused person shake off the JW spell and gradually re-enter a normal life. After reading the CoC she will no doubt know who the sacred cows of the GB really are.

That is GREAT, Jeff! What a great surprise for you. I wonder how many are sitting every week in the meetings wondering why they still go.

I wonder how many still go "for family" oblivious to the fact that this is also why their family goes. I have to believe there are many thousands, if not a couple of million, that fit that category of JW.

    Respectfully,

Good news about your niece, Jeff.

Your post should be copied onto every thread started by posters who wonder why exJWs don't just forget about the WT and "get on with their lives."

Sometimes when one escapes a burning building he gets an opportunity to go back and help others get out too. That is my mission - just one can do little - but as a force we can do much. Thanx.
