Recently, a poster was asking about the changes between the 1982 and 1989 issues of the Live Forever book. This was regarding the resurrection of the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah. Are they or aren't they?

Sorry about the poor scans, must be my crappy scanner.
BTW, you'll notice that three paragraphs have been re-written, not just the highlighted bits. -

Poor Sodom and Gomorrites. They get a resurrection, then they don't, then they do again. Guess it depends on what kind of message they want: hard or soft.

I remember these changes. It never made sense to me that the people of Sodom would not be resurected because of what Jesus said there. At first, they said that they would not. Then the Live Forever book said They would-"new light". I thought great, they are making some sense now. Then they changed it again. So, really they have changed from no to yes to no again. I think the middle one is correct though.

I don't know how they could miss the part where jesus tells the apostles that it would go better for the inhabitants of sodom and gomorah on judgement day than for the those of jerusalem. Sounds like a yes to me . The problem with the WTBTS is their confusion over the resurrection . There are 2 resurrections mentioned in Revelation , one prior to the "rapture" and one after the the millenial reign. The one prior to the conclusion is for the 144k exclusively where as the one after the millenial reign is for the old faithfuls and the ones getting everlasting abhorrences .IMO

I remember studying this one time with an "interested" individual. He had the new version and I had the old. When we read the paragraph I was shocked and was not able to come up with an explainiation.
If I remember correctly, didn't a later publication change the intrepretation back to its original?

So what's all this garbage about Jehovah can read hearts, then? Can he or can't he?
Thanks for posting the scans, which re-endorse our decision to exit was correct and which will also show newbies what we mean by flip-flopping!
