There are two things that helped me psych myself up for this effort, and YES, I'm still holding onto my determination not to smoke and I'm still smoke-free for 4 days now.

One....Crabby Pants buys some really FOUL-smelling cheap-assed cigarettes that smell like someone's lit a chemical fire under my nose when I'm in the same room with him. They're called "Monarch" and they make a person's nasal passages, sinuses and throat burn like they're on fire, plus if you are even in the same room with the smoke it makes you cough something terrible.

Two....I'm on SSI only. That means my budget is limited. I have enough money each month to buy groceries and damned few other necessities, pay rent and........either buy cigarettes......OR buy the yarn and purchase the copyrights on the crochet designs/patterns I'm working on.

It's been made much easier to resists everytime I consider either or both #1 and #2. :)

Problem is that the computer is in the same room where he generally smokes those poison cigarettes, so I have to wait to get online when he leaves the house for a bit.

Congrats .. .keep up the good work.

I stopped smoking 5 weeks ago so I can understand what you are going through. Me and hubby decided to stop and he bought a pack the next day. I've noticed he's been smoking a lot less though since I have quit. I think him going out by himself to smoke is helping him smoke less. He doesn't have his "buddy system" anymore,.
