JW membership conundrum

I was thinking that at the local level the Elders seem eager to cleanse the cong of all filth, AKA disfellowshipping. I wonder if JW HQ finds this a problem, though they cannot say anything without the perception of being weak, since they realize they are losing members but more importantly $$$$$$. I wonder if there is a split in mentality between local and regional heads where one thinks they are doing gods bidding (local) while the regional (HQ) are really pissing themselves realizing they are losing revenue?

From the way the Watchtowers have not toned down about disfellowshipping I get the impression that Head Office wants the d/fings to proceed, on the basis that keeping bad people within the org allows them to influence others and therefore lead to more leaving; hence more dollars lost. This is particularly the case with people deemed 'apostates'.

The two flaws in your premise are:

    1. that local elders are doing something that the higher ups would be upset about.
Elders will change their ferver if the GB were to send out a letter with any instructions.

    2. that the GB is afraid to appear weak. They would give that letter out to tell elders
to show more mercy, if that were their goal. They actually have done this with removing
elders due to sin. They instructed at Kingdom Service School and sent a letter describing
ways that elders who have sinned can continue as elders. DOUBLE STANDARD.

    Interesting post, thanks!

You know, I've found the whole Watch Tower Society is rotten to the core. It's rotten at every level just below the surface. The congregations all look clean, the buildings are new, the lawns are mowed, and the people are all clean looking and dressed nice and they smile. But just below the surface, just past that close for the sale facade, there's an undertow toward the dark side.

The smiling elders are gunning for somebody to mark for shunning while they drink alcohol every night and cheat on their taxes. The sister who's seeming so nice spends 3 hours a day on the phone gossiping about every Witness she knows. The adolescents who seem so pure, smoke and drink and do pot when they are out of sight of home.

The ones who aren't living a double life stand ready to rat out those who are if they have a chance.

The circuit and district levels stink to high heaven with dirty tricks and scams. There people are traded like pawns and treated like property. The branches rake in the donations and cash the checks and plan how to do it all again next year.

There's a rhythm the Society has. It's easy to pick up on. They have a cycle, it's set up, hype, close, damage control, rest, repeat. Sometimes elements are done out of order. Often as not we see the damage control come first.

It's a shiny red apple with a rotten center.
