I have been wanting to get the book Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz for some time but for some reason have felt I might be commiting the unforgivable sin. So I ordered it on Amazon will be here in about 5 days.
I finally got the courage

Trust me Hambeak, when you read it you will realise you are committing no sin.
This is the most reasoned well written book you will read. Franz does not grind an axe, and he doesnt bash anyone. He makes it very clear that he still believes and that he still loves Jehovah. If anything he gives you a way to continue in a christian faith and have a relationship with god.
Its a very moving book. Enjoy.

Hambeak,
I read that book while I was still an active jw, and after I finished it I never went out in the field service again. Within a few months, I had made what I knew would ne my last ever visit to a kingdom hall. It's one of the most well - written books I have ever read. There is no bitterness in Ray's writing, he writes in a very matter - of - fact way, and I would recommend that book to any jw who is having doubts. Believe me, they wouldn't be in any doubt after reading that book.
I am sure you will benefit from reading it, I don't know anyone who hasn't.

it made me feel empowered for having the guts to stay out. suddenly i felt not alone. one of the best decisions i have ever made was to order and read that book. there are parts that will make you naseous and i promise that you'll have to put the book down to mourn the little part of you that still hopes that this is the truth

I actually just finished reading it this weekend.
After I was d/f I knew I could never go back, but I still basically thought that they had the truth and that I would die at Armageddon. After reading the book I never realized how much falsehood I was fed while a dub.

I think you'll find it freeing. Some of it's tough to read; finding the truth about an organization you've been dedicated to can be emotional. But it freed me from the last little doubt that they may be right.

It's amazing how terrified a person can be about something as innocent as a book. I remember signing out Barbara Grizzuti's book from the library and committing a brazen act by leaving it on my car seat while parked at the kingdom hall. It was face down of course, but still...
I also recall putting Jim Penton's book inside another book while reading, so that my wife wouldn't ask questions about it.

Hambreak,
Reading such material is.....part of freeing your soul from prison.
First steps are the hardest. I am glad for you.

You are going to want to figure out a way to take it into the shower with you, and you will have to learn to get dressed with one hand holding the book...its that good.
I screamed about a lot of it...Ray is straight up and just OUT there with the truth about the truth.
