26 "But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. 27 And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning.

Though I am not trinitarian at this point, this verse seems to add some thinking in that direction to me. Jesus saying that the 'Helper' comes from the Father, but also that he, Jesus, would send it. And that it would bear witness about Jesus, not the Father.

Then vs 27 brings the disciples into it with 'you have been with me from the beginning'.

Not looking for someone to tell me what it says - just what does it mean to you?

spirit of truth is identical to the force mentioned in Jewish lit at about this time... So to me it means that the Father thru Jesus, imparts truth to us. The spirit, being the truth, will also testify that Jesus is indeed from the Father.

It is unlikely that the phrase "comes forth from the Father" is meant to express the notion of procession as it is understood in economical trinitarian thinking (such as by Tertullian, with the Holy Spirit and Son being both derived from the Father); the wording more likely describes the sending forth of the Spirit to the world in the same sense that the Son was sent (cf. 8:42, 13:3, 17:8), i.e. to act on behalf of mankind, in this case to bear witness on behalf of the Son. In other words, even after the Son is gone from the world, the truth of his reality as the revealer of the Father will remain alive through the acts of the Spirit in the Christian community. See also 1 John 5:5-10 in which the Spirit, alongside with the witness borne by Jesus' baptism and passion, is active as "another witness" to the fact that "Jesus is the Son of God," as it is "God's testimony, which is greater than the testimony of human witnesses". The visible actions of the Spirit speak louder than whatever testimony human witnesses of Jesus may say. Notice also the thought in Mark 13:9-11, which says that when followers of Jesus bear witness in the face of death in persecution, "it is not you who will be speaking, it will be the Holy Spirit".

1John 5:7 witness bible says there are three witness bears The real bible says for there are three that bear record in heaven, the father, the word, and the holy ghost; and these three are one. holy spirit is a person not a force. acts 5:3,4 gives an account of Ananias lying to the holy spirit ananias was told you have not lied to men ,but to God.

lying to them? was it the same as lying to God?

This is kinda confusing....talk about your lie dectector!....If someone has Holy Spirit..can they detect or discern things most people can't? Does God communicate to them and tell them when someone is lying or trying to mislead them? Wouldn't it piss off the people trying to lie to them?

Like someone walking next to you protecting you....yet telling on the ones trying to mislead you.

Would it be safe to say....that people who like to lie and mislead people would not like the Holy Spirit's interference into their plans?

Jesus is just referring to the holy spirit, which would arrive at Pentecost. From then on the disciples would be especially empowered to bear witness about Jesus.

whom I will send to you from the Father,

This is the center of my question - I prob did not make it clear. Jesus says the paraclete will issue from God, yet not God, but Jesus sends it from the Father. Does this imply anything regarding the nature of Christ?

Jesus did not say "I will ask the Father to send it." Leolaia may have already hit upon the answer, though I must digest it a bit more.
