I guess the WT. got it right, soon means thousands of years. Rev. says Christ is comming soon in it's last verse. The early christains thought that he was comming back soon too. So soon means thousands of years.

"One day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years is as one day."

So do you think it would be wise to allow a book like this to guide your life?

I used to play a game with a friend of mine after I left the JWs. If either of us said a word where we weren't sure what the meaning was we would say "define ....." so that we would have a common frame of reference.

My daughter often says "Talk to you later" when she ends a call. In my mind "later means leater today. In her mind it just means some time in the future. It drives me crazy but I am leaning

The WTS loves to redefine words to mean something different than the usual meaning. JWs don't often realize the different meanings or frame of references . Some might become aware if they work or go to school and have to change their way of speaking so people in the real world won't think they are daft.

    Hello,

I had heard a comment from Jim Bakker.. He was saying that Rev. 1:1

A revelation by Jesus Christ, which God gave him, to show his slaves the things that must shortly take place.

means that the things will all take place in rapid succession, rather than in short time from then.

Maybe that's what it means in all those spots, that when the end starts coming, it will take place rapidly.
