Do political ads work only for the ignorant and uneducated?

Doing a quick survey among friends, I find that all of them are voting the same way they said they would months ago. I also found that they are not doing this because of the fact that a political ad showed them something new, or convinced them on some one's character. Instead, they made this decision based on what they have seen in the news, the world and their own life. What shocks me though, is how much the political parties depend on these ads. To the point that we are seeing massive amounts of them, until Tuesday. Some are saying things that are true, some are doing the scary music with out of focus black and white photos. Others are misquoting people, some are saying things out of context, and so on. I have seen this on the Democrat side and the Republican. So if these advertisements work, then the average voter must be an uneducated and ignorant person. Who makes a decision this late in the game? Better yet, who is swayed by some sad photo with scary music, which is a common tactic these days. I can only think, that it is a ignorant and uneducated person. There must be a lot of them, as these ads, phone calls (prerecorded), are just coming and coming and coming .... Can not wait until Tuesday is passed.

Amen to that. All the ads and then the politicos bitch about the high cost of conducting campaigns. I like to watch debates but those are getting rarer. Just 6 more days. Too bad the '08 posturing is already beginning.

That is just too much to take. It is the curse of too many news programs.

I don't know about the ignorant and uneducated. They don't work for me.

I just assume that everything on TV is a lie or deception.

That's why they are called ACTORS.

The trend in local elections is to vote for the guy who sticks the most paper signs in front of people's houses. Doesn't really matter what their platform is because there is only one platform; make your friends as much money as possible and damn the consequences.

The signs in front of people's houses has gotten completely out of hand. My neighbor has about ten signs. Give me a break.

I do not think any buys that Kerry said what he said in the way the Republicans would want you to believe. Yet, at the same time, ever find youself thinking something and trying to speak at the same time. Often it is weird, you start saying what you think ... on accident. At the same time, if this affects the vote. Then issues mean nothing, only quotes.
