Are people "evil" (in God's definition?) or just don't know what "good" is yet? (God's defintion of good that is).

How many people would be saved if they somehow found they wanted to do "good"? Could people be convinced to do good if they seen the end results of doing it? And liked them?

Evil desires arise because humanity has a fundamental flaw--inherent imperfection.

We miss the mark of perfection.

Too, Jesus explained that some are not acting entirely of their own volition. John 8:44

An unseen force foments evil. But, as you know, all is not lost.

Could people be convinced to do good if they seen the end results of doing it? And liked them?

This is where faith comes in.

If we stop to think about the consequences of our actions, we can choose to do what is best of all concerned. However, most of the time, we don't stop to think about what is best for all, just for ourselves. This can become habitual, and lead to "evil" acts done without intent, but still causing harm for others.

I think a fish rots from the head down, if the people at the most powerful and wealthy, on top of society, are evil it trickles down.

I think for most people...you have a good point about that some people would do good if they could only understand that it was the way that would bring the best results.

I guess that's why we really can't judge people.. as it may be all they know.

But on the other hand.. the bible does teach that some are incorrigible and just don't want what's right. As in Rev. 22:11 "He that is doing unrighteousness, let him do unrighteousnness still; and let the filthy one be made filthy still; but let the righteous one do righteousness still, and let the holy one be made holy still."
