A Christmas Baby

I've spoken on here before about my JW neighbours (my motivation for joining this site).

I bumped into the lady the other day - we don't have a lot of contact since I explained my position. She is heavily pregnant with no. 3 and mentioned that the baby was due in about 6 weeks.

'How lovely' I said, 'a Christmas baby!'.

'We don't celebrate or recognise Christmas' she said.

'Well, I know JWs don't celebrate Christmas now' I said, 'but they used to, and you never know they may start celebrating it again. I've got some old photos of Christmas Day at Bethel, I'll print you off a copy if you'd like to see them.'

This did not go down well, and if they had a Christmas card list, I wouldn't be on it.

It was the lives and fate of the two existing children that caused me concern in the first place. So sad.

I remember Joe. So will you put up extra decoration this year for the kids to enjoy? I heard that some jw's even take a drive to look at the Christmas decorations at night. I suppose the whole while they are enjoying the lights they are complaining of evil Christendom!

I'm not surprised Joe, especially since you told her you have that picture, it's one the wts wouldn't want jws to see, which is why they tend to discourage accessing their old literature of course.

It's the kids in the wts I feel most sorry for, they are born to be indoctrinated, and have no choice in the matter.

    Thanks, rebel.

I may print this off as well. I'm sure it would go down like a lead balloon, or a pork pie at a Jewish wedding, as we used to say.

Isn't it strange how the 'Rock of Ages' changes his mind so frequently?

Hello Joe, I guess xmass was under the old light, the 60 watt bulb. Now they got a hundred watt bulb.

Hi Joe - I am glad to see you are still posting here! I took a little "sabbatical" for about 3 months or so, and didn't know if you were still around.

Wouldn't it be a classic moment of embarrasment if she actually had it about one minute past midnight on the 25th, and the local hospital turned her into the TV news as the first "christmas mom"?

Well done Joe... well done.. giggle. Bet that got them thinking. Copy the photos and give them to her much more receptive husband, cabs
