Post Watchtower experiences—and other positive thoughts—a survivors tale

Tornadoes, Floods, Hurricanes, and Earthquakes, there is one thing that all
of these disasters have in common, and that is they all have—survivors.

So, to, do human institutions such as concentration camps, prison camps
and yes, even religious institutions such as the Watchtower Society.

Taking the good out of a bad situation

Some times individuals will look on the misfortunate circumstances that
have befallen them without giving equal time to the good or positive
things that have happened to them since surviving the Watch-
    tower catastrophe.

What good things have happened to you since the discovery?

Since most of us on this discussion board have one thing in common
and that is being a survivor. What positive things have happened to
you since leaving? Are you a newly wed with a new baby on the way?

Are you studying for a new career? Have a better job? Develop your own
    business?

The things to be thankful for

"I cried because I had no shoes, but I stopped crying
when I saw a man who had no feet"—author unknown

    Respectfully,

    The Wanderer

I have had more time. I am not always in a rush to get to a meeting, go out in service go to an assembly. No longer bombarded with all the negativity of how bad the world and everybody in it is.

I have a wonderful circle of friends and supporters. I have found people who care about me...something I was missing in the borg. I also found the strength to leave a loveless, horrid marriage to a "nice" JW man.

    Hi Wanderer:

I left 1 year and 3 months ago. I am thinking I'm a survivor.. I'm in income tax school..just graduated. As I witness for 26 years, I dared not do anything but work toward aux or reg pioneering. Was a witness for 26 years. I also have better friends now..

I have come to share my life with an incredible, brilliant, strong man... who is marvelously perceptive and just amazing. He, in some ways, is a god to me, and I really mean that. I adore him and I would do anything for him. That's perfectly fair and okay... as he treats me pretty much like a goddess!

I can just see us meeting years ago, when he was a brilliant, opinionated atheist chemistry student and I was a dutiful little JW girl. OH, my gods, the round-and-round theory battles we would have had! Man, oh, man. I shake my head just to imagine it.

When we first got together, he lamented that we had "wasted so many years, why couldn't we have gotten together sooner?" I laughed, and told him that it wouldn't have worked years ago. We either wouldn't have gotten together at all, or we would have screwed it up. We waited until it was perfect, when we could TRULY appreciate each other! And here we are. Well, that's my story, and I'm proud and delighted to tell it.

I like the thread, Dear Wanderer! Yes, you are right, we are indeed all survivors. *wink*

    Hugs
    Baba.

After 20+ years of slaving for a false religion, I am free to do what I like, go where I like and be with who I like without fear of recrimination.

I am in love with a wonderful man who will be my husband in a few months time.

I'm not hoping to live forever now, but I can look forward to the rest of my life being free to choose what I do with it, instead of relying on a few old men in Brooklyn making those decisions for me.
