Has anyone had any experience with this? I just spent $19.95 to do so, got lessons 1-8 on this and will see if I can learn anything. If anyone out there has had experience with it pls to let me know will be checking back here off and on for the next few days. Thanks in advance to any and all that post. buff

I went all the way through the Pimsleur Spanish course - levels 1, 2, 3, and spanish plus. Levels 1, 2, and 3, I checked out from the public library. The abbreviated course that you have has the same content as the first eight lessons of the complete first level, although there is some reading material included in the complete first level that isn't in the introductory course. Which Pimsleur language course is that you have? That is, is it spanish or some other language? By the way, this is my first post on this discussin forum.

litlmike, I signed up for the first 8 lessons in spanish., that is good info if the course can be found at the local library, but i doubt it, the local library here doesn't have a lot of material in it, but its been several years since i have been there so maybe it has grown a bit. Hope so, city just spent a lot of money building a new library. will let you know how it goes.

I do speak more than a little spanish, but not to the degree of a native spanish speaker. Although, at times, I have been told that I sound like a native speaker. I speak with Mexicans in spanish where I work (they don't speak english), so I can have a little bit of a conversation in spanish. I have also learned from other courses. If your library does not have the Pimsleur courses, rather than buying them, you can rent them from recordedbooks.com . The Pimsleur courses will not make you fluent in spanish, but what you do learn from them, you learn fairly well. The one drawback of the Pimsleur course is that is uses some words that are not used by Mexicans, but fortunately there are not too many. One example is the word "castellano." They always use "español." Some people in other countries do sometimes use that word. Another example in later lessons is the word they use for "parking" or "parking lot." Pimsleur uses "aparcamiento," and Spain is probably the only place that uses that word. Others use "estacionamiento." Now, if Spanish isn't the language you are trying to learn, then this information I have given is pretty much useless.
