WERE YOU IN A CONGREGATION THAT FALL APART?
WHY DID IT HAPPEN?
I've never been in a congregation that "fell apart." But I've heard of some that had to be disbanded or reorganized. The one that had national attention was the congregation in Bonham, Texas. It came to a legal disbute of who owned the Kingdom Hall property. The Watchtower Society's lawyers claimed that the Watchtower had legal rights to it as a "religious hierarchy." The court's decision divided the Kingdom Hall between the dissidents and members who remained faithful to the Watchtower Socitey. In the end, Jehovah's Witnesses conceded and built a new Kingdom Hall.
I just found out about a congregation in Illinois where i first i got the " truth " that in 1984 we split because of growth but as of January 1st. they will be one again.
No one is coming in, no one wants the truth and young ones are leaving so that they can have a life.
the cong i left had a really inneffective, uncaring body of elders who had a strong clique between themselves.over an 18 month period, they lost over 30 people (including my family) who were either stumbled or who left for other congs. i believe it is still in the process of what i would describe as falling apart
This was my last stand congregation and ground zero,an incredibly abusive sleazy soap opera of a church Village of the Damned K-Hall MOST DENOUNCED KINGDOM HALL ON THE NET Mole report below Date: 27 Jan 2006
Hi Danny! The kingdom hall has lost about 50% of their membership over the last 2 years mostly whole families have left the witnesses altogether. Most who remain are inactive some (about 5 families) moved away with no forwarding address. Among those who remain, many are known alchoholics and liars. I heard this is typical with the witnesses. The society has sent pioneers to help them complete the territory, because NO ONE in this congregation even goes out in service. Most of the people just put down a few hours of supposed, informal witnessing to keep the elders off their backs. Rockland Massachusetts Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witnesses has lost about 25%, no new growth in years. Most young ones are leaving. Many inactive. Don't know about the rest. How are you? Often think of you. You are in Maine right? How are the Witnesses up there treating your car, are they still smashing windows or cutting tires? Very christian of them
Middleton Mass fell apart...went from 110 to less than 60...inept elder body...sold the KH on advice of the RBC and then didn't have enought $$$ to buy land and build another...they rented their building from the new owner...a dance studio...dance studio refurbished with mirrors, wooden floors and pix of dancers..very theocratic...LOL...went on for over 2 years....many like me left...now Middleton was merged into the Peabody Mass congeg...(another story of a vibrant cong destroyed by meglomanic elders)...guess Jah wanted smaller congs here...sifting has got to start somewhere I guess...
Salina Kansas U.S.A. had three congs. went to 2
The KH I started out in sold their 15 year old big KH and acreage, then they moved into a new Spanish KH about 10 years ago. The old hall had dwindled down so low that they couldn't afford the upkeep on the big hall. I might have had a little bit to do with that- two years worth of my public education effort about JW's in the community took away their fertile field of dumb/uniformed householders to study with. I didn't speak Spanish, unfortunately.
COME TO THINK ABOUT IT, I DID READ ABOUT SOME CONGREGATIONS THAT SUPPOSEDLY FELL APART IN SOUTH AFRICA.
SOMEONE SHOWED DOCUMENTION ABOUT PAST QUOTES,WHICH CASCADED TO THE POINT WHERE 3 CONGREGATIONS WERE DISSOLVED!
