When it's not hypochondriasis

I've been through "this is not nothing" more than I care to recount. With my husband, they said that he was faking illness to get out of work. Long story short we found the right doctor and he was diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma. By the time they found it, it had advanced so much that the only thing that they could do was amputate.

Now, it's my great neice. She had a golf ball sized lump in her clavicle area. They said that it was just a fatty lipoma. She just agreed with what the doctor's said. Turns out it's a soft tissue sarcoma. It's affecting one of her lungs. She has a pleural effusion or fluid in the lobe of the lung. The doctor is going to start chemo on Monday. She's 21 years old. She's not afraid. When I called her, she said "I'm blessed".

She was really close to my mother. She sang at my mother's funeral. Life is so strange. I know that my mother wouldn't be able to handle the news of this.

I didn't understand a word you said, however, you have my thoughts. Sorry...I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree. hehe

Having to deal with Dr.s on a regular basis due to my husbands illnesses I have to say that a second opinion is a valuable thing. Too often people take the word of their Dr., who is doing the best he/she can, but they aren't perfect, they make mistakes, they miss things.. and all too often they aren't up to date. Occasionally they are crooked and will over diagnose in order to qualify you for some insurance covered procedure you don't really need. Add to all this that you aren't usually thinking clearly when you go to the Dr. due to illness and stress. I always go with my hubby just for that reason.. he has "mental fogs" and will often forget symtoms or forget what questions he was going to ask.

Sounds like I'm preaching to the choir in your case, you already know all this... you have my sympathy.
