I have been a witness for over 35 years and I enjoy listening to Christmas songs. Of course I listen to them in my car when I am by myself

and I hide the CD's from my relatives who would be in shock and horror to know that I listen to these pagan songs. Today while driving to

work and listening to the songs I asked myself why do I enjoy these songs so much? I realized because these songs make me feel close to

God and his Son. They make me feel good inside. I certainly do not get these feelings singing at the KH. I also remember going to the wedding

of a relative which was in a beautiful old church. Just sitting there made me feel closer to God.

Some day when the time is right I can picture myself going to a church and being very active in helping the needy and the poor and feeling

closer to the Father and his Son. The Witnesses help the needy and poor by offering them tracts and magazines that will give them everlasting

    life.

We have been inactive for almost a year now . My 19 yr. old son came home from work the other day unusually happy (you have to know him !) He was humming and smiling so I asked what's up ? He says " Christmas music makes me happpy ! I've listened to it all day at work and I feel good ! " It was so funny . When i shared it with the girls at my work (they all know we left the JW's) they decided to burn him a CD of Christmas songs . Also today I told one of my customers "Merry Christmas " and one of the employees came over and gave me a hug . LOL I know what you mean about feeling closer to God in a Church . I have been visiting a Church and the songs are so much more directed right to God .You really feel like you have worshipped God when you leave , not like you have done school work like @ the watchtower study.

Although I'm not religious, I enjoy the holiday songs. Whether they're bright and cheerful, or slower and a little more serious, they add to a fun time of the year when you share things with friends and family. More than any other time of year, the holiday season can bring people together.

Even when I was a JW, I enjoyed listening to any holiday songs that were playing. (My JW parents even allowed us to sing seasonal songs that didn't directly mention Christmas: like Jingle Bells, Walking in a Winter Wonderland, and Frosty the Snowman.)

I'm finding myself really feeling nostalgic for Christmas this year. I'm not a believer, yet I'm really enjoying listening to Christmas music. I think it has something to do with having celebrated Christmas for the first 4 years of my life before my mom converted to jw. It's like there's this little girl in me who remembers that time. It's a kind of warm and fuzzy feeling.

I am a closet Christmas song listener too. I just wish I could celebrate. Still walking the tightrope with family still in. I want more than anything to put up a Christmas tree. That alone would be enough for me. I started with the dubs shortly after i left my parents home and never got to put up my own tree.

    Someday I will.
