Thinking of Hiring a JW?

What my husband found when hiring fellow JWs was that they could be very verbally cruel to others; one guy read the WT / Awake mags. in between his jobs. He was a machinist.
They were known to be the worst back stabbers.
He worked for an elder once and the elder was a cheat and lazy and broke promises.
Enough said. Now I'll read your link. About the b/days? They all each and everyone of them took b/day cake!! When it was someone's b/day, cake was brought in so they knew what it was for. Same ones whose little kids were expected to sit in the library because of a birthday party. The hypocrites!

Very true. Not to mention that, in my experience, many JW's are LAZY workers who always seem to feel "entitled", like their employers owed them something (besides a paycheck). They won't go the extra mile to do a good job, because that might look like they are servants of their employer rather that servants of the Borg. And they often have the attitude, "Why should I work so hard for something that will soon end with the rest of this system of things?"
Oh, GOD - I HATE that phrase "system of things". Makes me want to vomit.
No to say all JWs are lazy workers. I, for one, was not a lazy JDub, and neither was Little Drummer Boy.

There are some who know my history w/ my "temp" JW secretary. People wondered why we as a law firm would put up w/ her issues. This is an excellent example of what JWs will use to sue an employer. Even though IL (as with most states) is an at will state, the laws often time side w/ the employee.
Although this "sister" is still my "temp" secretary, she has turned her attention to others because she has given up on me as a lost cause. But I do have a funny story about her. So, since she is a floater, she has to fill in for the main switchboard. We have several floors in our building and each floor has its own receptionist, but there is only one main switchboard. So the other day my "temp" JW secretary was filling in for the lunch break of the main receptionist. When the main receptionist returned she asked JW where she was going and JW says "oh I am going back to my desk on floor 30". So main receptionist says "can you please take this DVD over to secretary so-and-so because I told her I would get it back to her today and you sit right next to her". So JW looks at DVD and sees that not only is it a rated R movie but it is also a creepy movie. So JW says to receptionist "Oh NOOOOO, my Christian conscious (sp?) cannot allow me to have ANYTHING to do with this DVD. I CANNOT participate in any way with this DVD" Of course the receptionist thought it was a joke and kept trying to give the JW the DVD to take with her. Of course the JW was so offended by the content of the DVD (because it was Rated R, it had violence and nudity in it) that she went to HR and complained because she felt HARASSED by the receptionist over the tape. In the end the receptionist had to apologize to the JW. In the end the JW chick has become the butt of the office jokes.
See the problem with JWs as employees is that they cause their own problems but then blame them on religious persecution.

I bookmarked this website- Most JW's are loathe to admit they caused their own problems at work, so they blame others for alleged persecution.
I had an aquaintance back in the 80's who was using a JW cleaning service and after talking to me he saw potential problems should they see something illegal in his home.
I loaned him my Witnesses of Jehovah tape and some Randy W's material to leave around the house. He was home when the sisters showed up to clean. In short order they got "sick" and had to abruptly leave the job. They never came back or even called to cancel his cleaning acount with them. At least he got his kitchen floor mopped for free.

Try your best not to get a mortgage or refinance your house from a JW especially if he is an elder.
I almost got cheated out of 1000's but caught the cheater before the closing. I considered him a good friend.
Five other poor souls in the congregation got screwed badly, some widows and others that truly could not afford the loss and putting them in a bad financial bind.
He is still serving as elder.

I have seen how they act in an office and in too many cases it is cause for concern. They just don't grasp the concept of boundaries! They think everywhere they go they can act the way they do in the kingdom hall or out in service. They just don't get it!
I consider myself to be an exception because I always knew my employer was paying me and deserved my loyalty and I was expected to be businesslike. When I am in the office I am on HIS premises and act accordingly. I never pushed religion down anybody's throat, preached constantly or tried to make anybody feel uncomfortable around me. The only thing I ever had a problem with was if somebody was "sleazy" or tried to tell dirty jokes but certain "worldly" women had a problem with this also. As far as their shunning routine is concerned, it has NO place in somebody else's place of business. They better save this nonsense for the shopping mall!
The problem with JWs in or out of the workplace is complicated. First, their behavior is such because they are so steeped in stupidity (or arrogance) they just do not know how to act around non-JWs. Secondly, the belief system of the religion is faulty. The faulty belief system leads them to believe they can get away with just about anything and they are required to be forgiven. This, unfortunately, is at the heart of why TOO MANY JWs are untrustworthy and unreliable and why I would never have anything to do with most of them.

In addition to my above post, I forgot to mention about JWs who violate a confidentiality on the job and divulge personal information which causes their employer to be sued.
I hope the law changes which will enable employers to sue the religion which requires their adherents to violate confidentiality.
To any JW lurkers: Do not inflict yourself on an unsuspecting employer if you feel you cannot keep a confidence and your "conscience" will cause you to open your mouth and make trouble. Please become self-employed !!!

That would be my number one worry as an employer. A JW swears only allegiance to the WTS and that gives them an excuse to treat anyone in anyway they want to. Confidentiality is like a leaf blowing in the wind to them - keep it when you want and divest yourself of it just as quickly when it suits your purpose. sammieswife.
