I sent my JW friend a card..............

  I sent my JW friend a Christmas card a couple of weeks ago. Last week I sent a birthday card.

  (I posted for advice on doing so.) My friend is not baptised yet, but professes to believe all they teach.

  Anyway, this friend called me today and thanked me happily for BOTH cards, and then told me there was an assembly out of town today, so she skipped "church". I never commented on anything. I just asked her if the card got to her in time for her birthday, because I was concerned it would be late, and she said it made it right on time.

  "Hope springs eternal", I know, but I really took this as a positive sign. She was so upbeat and happy when she spoke of it.

  I just wanted to share this with you, since you have all been so supportive and helpful on the many issues I ask about. I am not thinking that this is a sign that she is leaving the WTS, but it is nice to know that she realizes I am not the "enemy", just because I sent her a birthday card.

  I am still praying for a Christmas miracle for her!

  Stay in touch with her about the real stuff. When it gets weird for her there, she'll remember that you're the one who knows her.

  No. The only people I ever "expected" to recognize my birthday, was my Mom and Dad, and they are both gone now. We always had this under-lying depressing motto in my family: "If you don't expect much, you won't be disappointed." Getting away from that line of thought now.

  Last year I sent this same friend a birthday card and she didn't acknowledge it and she was very cool towards me for a few weeks after. The reaction this year was so much nicer!
