Every now and then when Watchtower officials feel the rank and file members are begining to drift through apathy, they introduce special leaflet campaigns.Remeber the armaggeddon tract?

Well how about everyone, swamping the Watchtower with our mailing campaign?

Any ideas for a Tract title?

I always liked the title of ad that someone placed in the local paper:
"Danger at Your Door - Jehovah's Witnesses"
I know that everyone in congregation was buzzing about it.

A campaign is already in existence at the dnc site.

After you've signed up at PayPal you can push leaflets through letterboxes to your hearts content warning people of the dangers of the Watchtower and inviting them to join the DO NOT CALL campaign.

Not only that but you get paid a reasonable commission too!

    Visit . http://www.do-not-call.org

If anyone wants to design a flyer suitable for download and free distribution I'll happily incorporate it into the site.

It should be suitable for printing in A5 size with simple black-on-white graphics (if any) to keep the costs down for everyone.

Philo and Outnfree produced the following at the dnc workgroup - you may like to use it as a template but in any case I wouldn't recommend more than 100 words on a flyer!

The effective "NO THANKS" to Jehovah's Witnesses

You may be aware that Jehovah's Witnesses (JW) are an organised body, working in your area. A routine part of their work involves making records of their work.

    Why does this affect you?

Every time a JW calls around s/he takes note of the date and time, and whether someone was at home. This information goes on an "S8" or temporary house-to-house record. While the purpose of these records is to keep track of both interest shown and the number of times a particular neighborhood has been canvassed, many citizens would be appalled to know that such records were being kept about them. This is information about you, as such, so it's an issue that affects you.

Is this a neighbourhood security issue?

JWs use the information on their records to target houses and streets for their door-to-door ministry. Problem! Thieves also collect and use this sort of information, isolating the times when you are away from home. But there is more than the security of your property at stake.

"Some in our group are former Jehovah’s Witnesses and were distressed by the recent disclosures that confessed pedophiles known only to the local elders might have been working alongside them in past years in the door-to-door ministry. When they realized the risk to children the world over, seeing that the record-keeping could be abused to, in effect, "case" a neighborhood for potential victims, they volunteered to join this effort," said Do-Not-Call.org spokesperson

Jehovah's Witnesses cannot honestly assure you that door-to-door information won't get into the wrong hands. Why not?

Throughout your area, this information is being collected by different JWs. It is filed by locality, and is available to every member of Jehovah's Witnesses in that area.

Even JW visitors from other areas are entrusted with this information. You may get used to seeing only a few familiar faces calling round, but in reality there is usually about 100 different JWs with access to your information.

Add to this the various people who are associated with JWs but who are not qualified members. These people can have access to 'door-to door records' as well.

This is the routine picture of information: gathering, distribution, and usage among JWs in your area.

    What to do?

Persons who subscribe to the www.do-not-call.org. service will have their names and addresses removed from the "territory cards" of Jehovah’s Witnesses. And as the sect has lately been adopting direct advertising techniques such as phone solicitation and letter writing, it will be nice to know that as a www.do-not-call.org subscriber, no phone calls or letters will destroy the tranquility of your home.

At a cost of $9.99, some will request the service just to enjoy sleeping in again on Saturday mornings without having to worry about the doorbell ringing. Others will be relieved that they no longer have to worry about the religion’s adherents trying to convert impressionable teens. But perhaps the most compelling reason of all to subscribe is the increasing number of latch-key kids who, in a parent’s worst nightmare, are lulled into thinking it safe to open the door, having seen those kindly, respectable-looking people around the neighborhood before.

    Most Jehovah’s Witnesses are respectable.

    We now know some aren’t.

Privacy? Peace of mind? You may find a bit more of it at www.do-not-call.org-

S8 forms have not been used in the UK for several years now.
Publishers have to write their own records on their own pieces of paper and then hand them over verbally.
This was implemented due to the data protection act.
Others can probably tell you exactly when this happened. I cant remember the exact date.
    Hope this helps.

Sounds to me like - scans memory for tired old phrases - I know! It sounds to me like a WEEK OF SPECIAL ACTIVITY!

You know how it goes, "Everlasting life at half-price!", or, "2 saved from destruction for the price of 1!" or "Get everlasting life now and your kids go free!"

    Irresistable.

    Englishman.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be....
