Food in Due Season - The JWD Holiday Cookbook

Food in Due Season is a compilation of recipes from around the world submitted by the participants of the JW Discussion forum. Many of the contributors are ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses who are not permitted to associate with family because they have either left or been expelled from the religion. When leaving the religious community, most understand that their opportunity to sit with family and friends over a table and share food will be seriously limited or non-existent. Few realized how painful this lack of connection would be.

Due to the Jehovah’s Witness prohibition against the celebration of holidays few of those who leave have learned the traditions of the holidays. Some have had to struggle with learning these traditions or create their own. This is our attempt to share with others some of the foods we have come to enjoy.

We have worked on this project with a couple of goals: to share fine food and friendship and to help support the discussion board where we meet from all over the world. As our gift to each other we offer this free to all the posters of JWD and their friends and family.

The free e-book (pdf file) is on the right. The "Food at the Proper Time" eCookbook on the left helps support the board. All proceeds go to keeping JWD online

    Dear Lady Lee,

May I take this opportunity to thank you for your part in preparing and presenting "food at the proper time" for us new ones here at JWD. I wish the eyes of the entire WT establisment could be opened to the likes of the delightful ladies here and their contribution to our spiritual restoration. What our dear Lilly wrote about the women of the first century tells me that their modern-day counterparts have been busy with the needed care of the "congregation" whilst the men running the show - the Governing Body - have been waging war on the sheep. Bless the FORMIDABLE "weaker vessels [NOT!]" of JWD!

Humbly grateful and at your service,

    CoCo

    Thank you Coco

Yes the women do all the work and the men get all the supposed glory

I am astounded at the intelligence of so many of the women here. Like many others I supressed that part of myself. That's not to say the men aren't intelligent. Many of them led the way in helping JWs see the complete fallacy of the WTS. But here we get to see so many more quality that both the men and women haver and that the WTS tries so hard to stamp out

Since this is our "first" Christmas, I have a question. When is Christmas dinner traditionally? Is it the night before Christmas, or on Christmas day???

Christmas dinner is usually served on Christmas Day. Presents are usually opened Christmas morning. Some people open them Christmas Eve before bedtime. Or they open just one and leave the others for the morning.

When you have extended familt some people have one family meal in the EVE and the other part of the family on the day.

Most important is the family gathering and its opportunity to get together and celebrate life.
