Will Israel, EU, US, or UN stop Iran?

There might be an invasion or two but Iran will not be completely stopped . According to Bible prophecy Iran will retain it's power enough to align with Russia, Syria, Turkey, a few other countries and attack Israel from the north. This is the war of Gog and Magog prophesied in Ezekiel 38-39. Reread those chapters and decide for yourself if the 'similarities between Ezekiel's prophecies and today's Mideast reality are uncanny'.

    Modern day Gog and Magog

Similarities between Ezekiel's prophecies, today's Mideast reality uncanny

    Ines Ehrlich

Current world events are beginning to increasingly resemble the 2,500 year old bible prophecy made by Ezekiel in chapters 38-39. Ezekiel foresaw the rise of Russia (or Turkey, depending on the interpretation) in a coalition with Iran and other Middle Eastern countries (Sudan, Ethiopia and Libya).

The coalition is foretold to attack Israel from the north in a bid to destroy it during the earth's "last days," commonly known as the "war of Gog and Magog."

Throughout history it was thought that the prophecy had been put on hold, until perhaps today when it seems frighteningly more feasible.

In Joel C. Rosenberg's book "The Ezekiel Option," the author points to Ezekiel's prophecies in chapters 36-37, which have largely come true.

Rosenberg then asks the obvious question: If prophecies such as "the rebirth of the State of Israel, the return of the Jews to the Holy Land after centuries in exile, the re-blossoming of desolate desert land to produce abundant food, fruit and foliage, and the creation of an exceedingly great army" materialized in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, then why shouldn't the next prophecies come true in our lifetime?

Let's try and place the biblical names and locations into today's reality, and see the parallel unfolding of events:

Gog is commonly believed to represent a person's name rather than a place, a tyrannical leader who may hatch an evil plan – in today's reality this "honor" could be most suited to the President of Iran, Ahmadinejad, or perhaps Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon .

Magog, according to some scholars, refers to Russia and the republics of the former Soviet Union, or perhaps Turkey. Others will argue that the exact location has not been fully ascertained and that the word Magog may simply be a generalization for an enemy of Israel, leaving the location open.

    Under attack

According to the prophecy in question, "many peoples with you" who will attack along "the mountains of Israel" implies that other countries will be involved in the Russian (or Turkish), Iranian, Sudanese, Ethiopian and Libyan coalition, and who border on the mountains of Israel. This includes Lebanon, Syria and possibly Jordan as well.

Is it so farfetched to imagine the axis between Hizbullah, Iran and Syria, especially after the second war in Lebanon when these three forces overtly united and continue to support each other's goal to destroy Israel?

In his book, Rosenberg notes a conspicuous absence of Egypt and Iraq in the original prophecy, which also makes a lot of sense at this point in time. Egypt signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1979 and Iraq is embroiled in its own war of survival and both are unlikely to join a coalition against Israel.

According to the prophecy Magog "will build a military coalition and prepare a strike against Israel." Gog "will use overwhelming force against Israel" - could this be referring to nuclear force? And his coalition will "come like a storm…like a cloud covering the land."

But let's not become hysterical. According to the prophecy, there is no need for Israel to become alarmed, "as the Lord God will bring judgment upon the enemies of Israel beginning with Gog (the tyrant)."

Ezekial prophesizes a great earthquake and the turning of Gog's forces against each other. The next step, which prophesizes God subjecting the enemy to "pestilence, blood, torrential rains, hailstones and fire from heaven," is unclear and sounds like someone pressed the nuclear button, and if so, then who, and who in the region would survive it?

But as in all happy endings, Israel, it is prophesized, will regain its economic prosperity.

So the question remains: Should we wait for future developments and hope for the best, or look more closely at Ezekiel's prophecy and consider preemptive action to stop what may be seen as an imminent threat rising from the "anti-Israel coalition?"

With this said, Ezekiel's prophecy says nothing about an Israeli pre-emptive strike to avert a possible attack – and indeed, it appears such a strike is unlikely considering the current state of our dubious, weak leadership.

    Greetings Jeremiah,

Hope you are well. I've nothing intelligent to say - yet! - but the subject surely is thought-provoking, as are your others. It all seems to be unraveling toward some end. I recall reading that the ONLY WT prediction that has come to pass was that of CTR re: the establishment of Palestine [am I correct?] Might he be revealing more from "beyond the veil"? - see WT, 11/1/17, p. 6161, reprint

Russia Concerned Over Middle East Turmoil, Pledges Support, Putin Assures Syria’s al-Assad

Russian President Vladimir Putin has voiced concern at the turmoil in the Middle East and stressed Moscow’s desire for a diplomatic role in the region, as he held talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the AFP news agency reports.

“The situation in the region remains tense. We see that the region is practically moving from one conflict to another and that cannot but concern us,” Putin said at the Kremlin meeting Tuesday.

Noting that he had recently hosted Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora, Putin said: “We continue in the most active way possible to participate in the Middle East peace process and continue to have contacts with all the political forces in Palestine”.

Al-Assad responded by hailing Russia’s efforts: “Our cooperation has become firmer recently and one of the aims of my visit is to widen that cooperation in different areas. We have a lot of areas where we can cooperate,” al-Assad said. “With our efforts we play an important role in ensuring the stability of the region and we will orient others to act with the same aim,” he told Putin.

Russia has been trying to restore something of its Soviet-era influence in the Middle East and the Kommersant newspaper said Putin would seek the Syrian leader’s support for a long-standing Russian bid to host a Middle East conference.

News reports said earlier that Putin’s talks with al-Assad would range from the situation in the Palestinian territories to Lebanon and Iraq. Russia is a member of the so-called Middle East diplomatic quartet together with the European Union, the United Nations and the United States.

But the United States and Israel have resisted the idea of Russia hosting a Middle East conference, which Moscow hopes would bring together arch foes such as Iran and Israel. Although it is relatively close to Israel, Moscow was at the forefront of objections to Israel’s offensive against Lebanon’s pro-Syrian Hezbollah in July-August.

Russian weapons sales to Syria were also likely to be a theme, analysts said. In an interview Monday with the official Rossiiskaya Gazeta newspaper, Syrian Vice President Faruq al-Shara hinted that Syria would like to buy more Russian weapons systems —- a trade that has angered Israel and raised eyebrows in Washington.

Kommersant said Damascus is considering buying MiG-29SMT fighter jets from Russia as well as possibly Amur-1650 submarines, Yak-130 planes and additional Pantsir-C1 air defence systems. Kommersant said Russia was looking at possibly expanding a supply base in the Syrian port of Tartus used by the Russian navy and previously the Soviet navy, with a view to turning it into a fully-fledged base and foothold in the Mediterranean for Russia’s navy.

Well, if someone has to deal with Isreal, it might as well be Iran Turkey Syria and Russia. I do however find it funny that you lump Turkey in with that group as Turkey is attempting to join the EU and is a Secular state instead of a religious state as Iran is. Russia ... well they just do what they want and go where the money and oil is. How much research did you do on this?

    Hey Kwin,

I'll try to make this short.

I find it interesting that Iran is producing nuclear "energy" or weapons and in the same breath denying the holocaust and claiming that Israel will soon be wiped off the map. What is the UN going to do?...or Israel, the EU, or the US?

My question,....is there a connection between bible prophecy and these modern events? It's speculation at this point. But it's definitely interesting the way things are taking shape in the news.

    Read Ezekiel 36-39.

    Quickest commentary ever:

Ez. 36,37: Israel will be regathered as a nation and its land which was desolate will become lush and productive again.

Ez. 38,39: Certain nations gather against Israel to make a massive war. The prophecy lists the lands where the armies will gather from.

Rosh- many scholars believe this is a reference to Russia

Meshech is the ancient name for Moscow, Tubal of Tobolsk, the Russian cities.

Magog, which is the ancient name for those people who lived in the area of the Caucasus and the mountains north of the Caucasus, which is the present day area of Russia, along with Meshech and Tubal, which people were the ancient Scythians that inhabited the area known as Russia today.

Persia- parts of Russia and Iran

    Ethiopia and Libya- self explanatory

    Gomer- eastern Germany and Poland

Togarmah, which are your Balkan States: Turkey, and Yugoslavia, Romania

Then the prophecy lists lands who will oppose this invasion:

    Sheba and Dedan- Saudi Arabia

    Tarshish- England

    The young lions- ???

If you think of Iran today, minus bible prophecy, it looks as though some nation or alliance of nations will invade Iran because they are a threat. The UN, Israel, England, and US have been talking about what to do but can't seem to figure out what.

I think that according to prophecy, Iran has to atleast hold on to enough power to ally with these other nations to eventually invade Israel.

What's interesting, too, is the relationships that are forming as we speak that can be seen in the news.

    Baloney.

No one is going invade or nuke Iran. In less than ten years, its clerical government will collapse and be replaced

by a secular, anti-clerical government. This will send shockwaves thru the Islamic world. Syria will talk and talk

    - and do nothing.

Forget all these prophecies about Gog and grasp reality.
