For as long as I can remember, I think Wicca is one of the most misunderstood of all religions. Last week, in my Nature Writing and Literature class, a friend of mine gave a presentation of the history of Wicca and an explanation of their beliefs. Basically in a nutshell, she said that Wicca's believe that everything in life goes in a circle, from the life and death cycle to the calendar of holidays they celebrate.
I asked several questions, mainly trying to determine if they are a cult like the Watchtower. But they don't do anything like them. There's no shunning, no disfellowshipping, no elders. In fact, most Wicca's lead pretty normal lives and go to school and work like the rest of us.
It seems that many organizations, especially the Jehovah Witnesses, say so many bad things about Wicca's, like they worship the devil and have sex-worship orgies, and none of it is true. In fact, they don't even believe in the devil.
So my question is, what is the real truth? Does anyone here know anything about Wicca or witchcraft because I'm tired of hearing so many bad or superstitious things about them. I would appreciate any input if someone is familiar with them. Thanks!
